You can rate all the wondrous things found in nature, like trees, flowers, and gemstones. You can also give ratings to nature's darker side, embodied by earthquakes and hurricanes.

A while back I was idling my time away online and...well, you know how things go...one thing led to another and I found myself entranced by amateur videos of the Japan's 2011 earthquake and its ensuing tsunami. I watched these videos for days

Think about your worst day, ever.

The person who took this video had, obviously, been through something like this before. He knew it was coming and he knew what to look for. I can't put in to words how devastating this event was. I'm unaware of words big enough to describe the power and intensity of Nature's ultimate crescendo.

The tsunami enters the mouth of a river and washes Town A down stream. The town, reduced to rubble mixes with the water and becomes a tsunami of its own. What was Town A hits Town B. Town B joins Town A and they head down stream to Town C, intensifying the destruction. I don't know how many towns ganged-up on the town in this video.

What is even more amazing about this video is left to your imagination, because a tsunami is like an Earth-bound hurricane, not only in terms of the destruction, but by the fact that both kinds of events strike twice: once coming and once going. For whatever reason, the person that filmed this didn't stick around for Stage 2, when everything gets sucked back out and finishes off anything it missed on its way in.

Have to agree with Numbah on this one... It might sting at first, but so does ripping a leech off before it sucks you dry.

A few years ago I had to take mom to the hospital for chest pains and the like... fucking idiots tried to send her home with an 80% blockage. She refused to go home and insisted they do shit right. They found the blockage, did a stent, and she's still around because she wouldn't let them bitches half-ass her care.

Binnie? Is that you?

Hey, look at the bright side, you could be in the wave pool at the water park when Montezuma takes his revenge.

Every time this has happened, something came up that validated it as a GOOD THING. Last big demo? She married another guy two months after I moved out. BULLET. DODGED.

I've only been in one and I was fortunate to be the person driving the Suburban and not the Honda. 20 MPH collision... the Honda was totaled, the Suburban? Well, it had a little paint mark on it.

I am sure this would be tragic. The only one close to me in my family who passed away was my grandmother on my Dad's side, but it wasn't sudden. Today, one of my father's best friends, who was around since I was a child passed away. The man had 30 years sober and recently attended my wedding. During my own struggles I thought of him, and how he turned his life around. I hadn't seen him in at least ten years, possibly 15 but just three weeks ago I had a chance to shake his hand, and thank him for setting a good example to me, and talk about how blessed both of us have been. To hear about his sudden death after speaking with my family about him just earlier today brings tears to my eyes but I am very, very grateful I had a chance to speak with this man one last time.

Another rating dilemma. If you don't want to have a child, I'd rate it 4 stars for bad thing. If you're trying, I would guess it's 5 stars for great. Having been newly married, it is an interesting shift in perspective to think that something I so strongly tried to avoid in the past is now something that not only would I not mind, but would also welcome.
