A good cup of coffee is about quality roasted coffee beans. Given that, it's pretty hard to screw it up - you can make it too weak, too strong or let it go stale and the training required to do it right shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Starbucks and its competitors pretend they are selling you something better than anyone else has in their cup, but what they are really selling you is brand experience. If that's worth a premium of a couple of bucks for a cup of coffee that you can make at home for about a quarter, then you are getting your money's worth.

Personally I am not a fan of Starbucks. Their coffees are always super weak and I can hardly taste the coffee. I used to work as a barista for years and and I have found that if you want to get good coffee you have to stay away from the big chains.

Coffee making is an art and it takes time to make a good cup. You have to make sure that you steam the milk right, grind the beans right, etc etc...things that busy chains don't have time for. A perfect espresso is supposed to take approximately 25 seconds from the moment you put it on till it's done....this is never the case at Starbucks, and the reason why their coffee tastes watery.

Another thing that annoys me there is that they just leave the milk to "steam by itself". No wonder they don't get foam on their coffees and have to use spoons to scoop up old foam and put on top of the cappuccino...gross!!

My advice, if you want good coffee, look for small coffee shops. There are tons of them all around the city :)

Call their toll free number 1-800-505-2876 & ask them to bring the 6.1 Hazelnut canisters back. The new singles packs are not only too small to make a good cup of coffee but they are not environmentally
friendly. Too much packaging for such a small amount of product. Not to mention that they are difficult to open. They will listen to our feedback if enough people call. 1-800-505-2876 November 16, 2009

This is supposed to be a healthier drink because it contains 40% less calories than the regular Starbucks Mocha Frap.

I can barely tell the difference in flavor with the non light version, probably this is a little milder.

I'm not sure about the positive impact this drink would have on my health over the regular mocha frappucino, so I will keep drinking the non light Mocha because it's stronger and tastier!

I have started up my membership again giving them one last try, my promotion was the free coffee pot and the gal told me for $10. I would only have to pay $1. for future shipments which I agreed to, they billed my credit card the $29.95 plus the $10. fee for the shipping and
handling promotion, now I find out that I do not get my shipping and handling for this amount but have to pay full price, they are really dumb people here as no one knows what I am talking about. Not worth the hassel. Customer Service here stinks.

Review Icon bigbox reviewed Gevalia in Coffee:
Was a Gevalia fan for 15 years. Have spent over $12,000 dollars. Occasionally the coffee was 'off' (fish smell) but generally we loved it. We had some problems with a shipment a year back and went through HELL with customer service to get it replaced (they shipped us the wrong product, we were billed and we had to ship their mistake back before they would ship us a new shipment - to this day this was never resolved). We overlooked it. On our last shipment - shipment #175 - we received an unsealed box in our regular monthly shipment of 10 boxes for the month. Called customer service. Was interrogated. Was told to ship back this one stupid single 1/2 lb box so they could send out a new one. Are you kidding me! I cancelled the 15 year membership. Told them to forget the replacement as I was throwing the single box away. They supposedly cancelled the membership - and sent me a replacement single box! - and billed me for their mistake!!!. We are done - done - done. I was an apolstle for Gevalia for years - but now I will do everything I can to tell everyone to stay - stay - stay away. Their Customer Service was obnoxious and couldn't give a damn about a 15 year loyal paying customer. Go to Costco, BJ's, Sam's Club and buy Starbucks or one of their private label store "strong" blends. Its 1/3 the price and the quality of the product and the service is better.
F' Gevalia.

Review Icon magellan reviewed Javaccino in Coffee:
The Javaccinos are OK. No better and no worse than the Starbucks ones.

They have 140 calories in 9.5 oz, which is the same calories as a 12 oz can of regular coke.

They are also organic, whatever that means.

I am trying my first Starbuck Drink that comes in a can.I was wondering how different this stuff is from the regular bottled Starbuck frapuccino. the first thing o noticed is when I opened the can it sounded like opening a soda, so I assume it's a carbonated coffee drink(ew), but it's not. It has guarana, guinseng and B vitamins, but I can't taste those flavors. It tastes good although it is not cold (it wasn't on the fridge but on my desk). So, this drink tastes as the normal frapuccino stuff but I guess it will give me more energy.

Since Maxwell House switched their coffee beans to Arabica, it tastes so much richer. It has more flavor "depth" to it by far than Folgers. Folgers is weak tasting compared to Maxwell House.
