I bought recently. Thank you guys from Portmarket brought quickly. Screen - great, sound is loud and clear. Disappointed that no rewind buttons on the housing front - only with the remote control. The battery holds about 5 hours exactly. I looked straight 2 films in 2 hours and 30 minutes and was still a charge! The model clearly one of the best on the market in quality, and price is not very bite.

Picture perfect for 9. "Reads almost all true movies avi format larger than 2GB somehow freezes. The disadvantages would be classified that the movie titles in Russian are unreadable, even though all the menus russified. Plus it's convenient operation, good battery, fast charging and lacking in movies actually at 6:00. We take two months, very pleased, I think this is the best device to date

Advantages: clear rich picture, both on the big LCD, large viewing angle, we can see the smallest details, loud speakers, thoughtful management, user-friendly control panel, battery, enough for 3 full movie, USB input for flash drives, excellent design. Disadvantages: The more I found nothing! Total excellent machine. get real pleasure from watching movies, buying is justified by 100 percent! Highly recommend!

Nice slim player that fits easily into a media cabinet or entertainment center. The price on this is pretty reasonable considering the quality. Many of the cheap Blu-ray players have a hard time reading discs if they aren't perfect or have a few scratches, this player can handle my whole collection without giving me fits (a big plus if you've dealt with one that does). The up convert feature is great for watching older standard definition discs as well.

This one gets an easy 5 stars! Excellent product!

Blu-Rays are very quick to load. Checked out Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and the biggest delay in getting to the movie was skipping the previews up front. Menu was up in just a few seconds, and the movie launched very quickly after that. Maybe 30 seconds from putting the disc in until I was watching the movie.

I have recorded many TV programs with my Sony DVD recorder. The model is RDR-GXD455 (RDRGXD455). I hoped to have the programs for a long time. However, with this recorder a long time is about three weeks. That's about how long I can go with a DVD that is full of favorite TV shows before the Sony recorder erases the entire disk. When I check the menu to see what is on the DVD, the message says “There is no title” and there is nothing on the DVD. The player finalizes the disk too. There is no way to unfinalize the DVD either. At that point I have to reformat the DVD and start all over. I have lost about eighty programs on six DVDs so far, and the number keeps climbing. I am constantly loosing recorded DVD content to an unwanted DVD erasure. I would look for another brand if you are buying a DVD recorder. I sent it in for repair to Sony while it was under warranty but the problem still exists.

This is an easy player to use. There are touch controls on exterior with no mechanical exposed buttons to corrode or get dust in. Blu-Ray movies look theater quality and even DVD's are enhanced to look better than they do on standard DVD players. Netflix streams great. Granted, the resolution is low definition, but somehow it's still quite acceptable and the resolution adjusts itself for the internet connection speed so it continues to stream without stopping the movie. Pandora music and YouTube are great as well. You will be happy with this product.

Highly recommended. I'd give it 4.5 stars if rateitall allowed me to.

Best UI of any DVR that I've seen. Wishlists make this a notch above the generic boxes. It thinks like you do. If you want to pause and come back later it actually does... the generic boxes don't. The closest I've seen to the quality of TiVo HD are the DirecTV HD DVR boxes. But, with TiVo set to come back to DirecTV, I imagine some users will want to switch to TiVo for those reasons.

I got the external 500 GB Seagate drive that is rated to work with the TiVo HD. It works like a charm. However, I did have a power outage (yes, the units were both hooked up to a power strip) and lost all the recordings on both the internal and external drives. A simple reset worked to save the system but what's gone was gone. If you really want to save stuff, use TiVoToGo to transfer your Mac or PC via ethernet or wifi.

Downsides are few, but one of them is that a CableCard needs to be installed by your cable provider (should be free) and in my experience the On Demand channels don't work.

This DVD player has a problem when you play a DVD and stop it for an intermission. The unit instructs you to press the play button again to resume. However, the unit occasionally freezes up. This has happened to me on the original unit received and on the replacement unit.

After having problems with macroblocking (weird pixalations/distortions during dark scenes) on my Oppo 981 (view my post on the Oppo 981), I exchanged the 981 for the 970. I continue to have problems with the 970, and not just macroblocking issues. I also tried to view a DVD R on my Oppo 970 but had it freeze up on me several times when I tried to fast forward it and eventually I could not view it at all. I also attempted to listen to a CD-R that I had just burned  and it froze on me as well. I put the same CD in my car stereo and had no problem listening to it. I also have had no problem watching that same DVD R on my beat up old Toshiba DVD player (circa 1998).

I definately would not recommend Oppo DVD players to anyone and if you are in the market for a good DVD player I would recommend you go to the store and watch it play a DVD on a big screen yourself and that way you can judge the picture quality. I don't think that is possible with Oppo; definately not in Canada as no stores sell them here.
