I have a husband that travels throughout the US a few times a month and three kids in school, one of whom is medically fragile. We had about 22 combined sick days last school year, we started taking zicam late summer and we have only had one sick day in the 2 1/2 months since school started. Reading the directions is really important. If you like to pound OJ when your sick, you need to time the zicam carefully around vitamin C consumption. Also, when the instructions say 'every three hours', that includes the middle of the night.
We start the zicam as soon as we even suspect illness, ie flushed, pale or tired for no reason, glassy eyes, sniffles, slight temp.
We get reimbursed for these through our flexible spending account, just as we would co-pays going to the doctor. It is much more convenient and pleasant for everyone to shop in advance and have it on hand, rather than scrambling in the middle on the night to go shopping. Or worse, being up all night with a sick kid so that you can spend the next day in the pediatricians waiting room and the pharmacy.
The only downside we have run into is the taste. We started out with the rectangular chewy version, after the 4th dose we started carefully considering how much worse the flu would be than taking another one of these. We now own every flavor of every version, mentally I know its all pretty much the same stuff, but it distracts the palate from the intense, lingering metallic after taste. The meltaways are the least offensive and most convenient if your on the move (no rattle, no gummy wrappers).
Good luck and stay well!

Zicam is something that has helped me in the past when I've been sick. I like the fact that it comes in so many different forms, and it really helps alleviate cold symptoms! I would recommend it!

This stuff works wonders, makes me sleepy very fast, although the taste is SOO bad that it makes me want to throw up. The taste is absoutely awful. Words cannot describe it. I highly recommend taking the Liquicaps! It works just as good.

2 colds last season and yesterday started # 1 for this season. At the *1st* sign of a cold (sore throat typically for me), I start with the Rapid Melts exactly as directed. In my opinion, it greatly reduces the severity and duration.

For the 2 last year, I was symptom free by day 4. Only slight loss of energy during the period and cold symptoms were very mild.

Day 2 on this one and my throat is only a bit sore and other symptoms are barely there. I normally am a basket-case for 3-4 days, gradually getting better.

The product works for me.

homeopathy is nonsense. chemicals diluted to where they are not even present in the bottle. HOWEVER, the main ingredient in this stuff is geranium oil, which can be purchased on ebay for less than $10 an oz (compared to $60 for neuragen) i have found that my tingling and painful toes DO respond when i remember to apply at bedtime. for ten bucks or less worth a shot.

I've struggled for years with sinus/ear infection problems and have tried EVERYTHING, even getting my adnoids (sp?) removed. I also have all my life gotten gigantic welps whenever i get bit by mosquitos or anything else. Finally my boss suggested Benadry and OMG it works on all of it; if i get bit, it takes down the swelling and helps with the itch; if i feel the signs of sinus issues (i'm assuming now its from allergies since this works) then i start taking it and get better IMMEDIATELY. the only bad thing is it does make me really sleepy but i deal with that by only taking it at night or on the weekends. hope this helps!

I believe the tagline in one of thier commercials was "tastes awful, but it works"

Yup, truer words were never spoken. Unfortunately, this stuff tastes SO BAD I'd almost rather be up all night coughing.

I believe they make this in capsule form now. I would like to see how it compares to the liquid.

Believe it or not this will be on-topic, or as on-topic as I can be while high as shit on this crap.

Now, I've known a few junkies *queue Junkie* in my life and I can state without fear of mental retardation that whoever invented this shit must have run out of 100ml vials of morphine. I can't even feel my nose!

Zyrtec is terrible. If your congested, it's supposed to decongest you, but it does the exact opposite. It clogs my nose up to the point it feels like I have a rock in it, and I can't breath, and when I try to blow my nose I can't get anything to come out. Gross, but this is what happens.
