I've never really understood the point of making sloppy joes when you could just use the ground beef to make hamburgers instead. While some may have other reasons why you might choose the sloppy joe over a hamburger, I can only think of two situations where I would personally go with sloppy joes over burgers.

1. You're making food for a lot of people. If you were making food for 10 or more people, sloppy joes would certainly be easier.

2. You're using wild game. I use a lot of venison, but I find that ground venison can occasionally be a little too strong for regular burgers. Although I would honestly prefer to use it in stuff like chili or taco meat instead of sloppy joes.

Maybe I'm just weird, but as much as I love barbecue, I'm just not a big rib fan. I'd much rather have a slab of a barbecued pork shoulder, or the same barbecued pork shoulder prepared as pulled pork. I'd even rank barbecued beef brisket ahead of ribs, even though I think pork is generally superior to beef when it comes to barbecue.

I maybe want pumpkin pie two or three times a year, but if it's my mom's pumpkin pie, it is excellent. The problem is that finding a pumpkin pie as good as the ones my mom makes is extremely difficult (finding a better one may in fact be impossible), and most are significantly worse.

A properly made, homemade pecan pie is amazing. However, it's way too easy to run into the mass produced variety, which are little more than sugary goo with just enough pecans on top to qualify as a pecan pie.

The term "the hot dish" can refer to way too many things to rate it anything but three stars. Since this is GTH's list, and he has reviewed this item, I take it to refer to any hot dish that has a tendency to show up at potlucks and such. This includes a LOT of things. Some are great, and then there are the mystery casseroles.

Reportedly Ricky Martin's favourite meat, which coincidentally is what got him kicked out of his first band.

I'm not so sure about trying menu items that were found on the polo fields, or am I translating this incorrectly?

I don't know whether it's the way that it's processed, or not, but I cannot drink apple juice, as I have some kind of an allergic reaction to it. Apple cider, on the other hand, I seem to be able to drink. I'm kind of scratching my head on this because I don't understand why I can have one and not the other.

I can't say that oatmeal is one of my favorite things to eat, but I do eat it once in a while for breakfast. If I had to choose between Cream of Wheat and oatmeal, it would be Cream of Wheat all the way.

I couldn't eat it for breakfast every day, but if I need to stoke up for a day of skiing or hiking or think there is a likelihood that I'll be missing lunch because of a hectic schedule, I'll start with oatmeal, porridge or Red River cereal (I'm not sure if the latter is just a regional name for something else). A handful of the single serving packets are good sources of calories for canoe trips, backpacking or camping.
