Excellent clip Irish. Theres nothing I wouldn't give for a Walker, Texas Ranger Lever of my own. What a great tool that would be to break up awkward moments or boring conversations.

Electricity was first installed in houses somewhere between 1880 and 1890. Without electricity, there would no television, no video games, no movie theaters, etc.

Electricity eliminates the need for candles, smokehouses, etc. Electricity is wonderful. I give it a 5 star rating.

Earth Shoes have probably been the cause of my achillles tendonopathy. If you are over 30 years old you should really think twice before you purchase any shoe with a negative heal. I am now under a podiatrist's care and recieving physical therapy and have to ice my achilles tendon area several times a day. I just don't know how to now get rid of these expensive shoes. There's no question about it: when our grandchildren and great-grandchildren look back at the history of our times, they will view the internet as one of the most profound technological shifts in all of history. It has changed the way people acquire information, communicate with each other, and do business. Just like historians regard the early 19th Century as the Industrial Revolution, they will regard the current era as the "information revolution", as it has opened up vast new mediums of knowledge to the public commons.

True, there is a lot of junk in the internet, but I grade the internet as an overall positive development.

But some regard this informational revolution as a threat. Decian McCullough from CNET.com wrote an interesting and eye-opening article about a bill in Congress being pushed by Sen. Jay Rockefeller that will grant the President the power to declare a "cybersecurity emergency" for particularly any reason.

I do know that Rockefeller isn't a friend of internet freedom and has sought in the past to control it's usage.

Here's the link to the article: http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html
I encourage everyone to take a look at it, and if it interests you more, read the actual text of the bill, which is linked in the story.

About 25 countries have laws in the books regarding "internet security" in one respect or another. A few others, including China and the US, are considering it. The trend seems to be towards less internet freedom. I'm sure all of us who use sites like RIA take very seriously the right to publish and read whatever material they desire to without state interferenece.

When this drink first came out in 1985, I drank one. YUCK!!! It tasted like crap. Diet Coke tasted better. Whoever made the first batch of the new Coke was insane. I heard that Coca-Cola was improving this drink so two months later I decided to take a gamble and buy a 2 liter bottle of new Coke. It tasted pretty good. It was a hell of a lot better than the first batch.
I still remember how that many people were mad because they stopped selling the original Coke. I'm pretty sure that somebody was going to sue them. People were selling what they had left of the original Coke at high prices.
I hope that you weren't one of the people who drank some of the first batch of the new Coke. It was not a pleasant experience.

Calculator's formed an important role in the development of early computers and has become something we've taken for granted over the past 50 years. The first time someone used binary arithmetic to perform calculations must have been an amazing time. The concept prevailed over existing technologies such as the Abacus and eventually we found other applications for this technology, and the computer was created.

If you really want to edjumikate yourself on the H1N1 virus and whether you should get The Shot, here's the best source that I've found, to date. It starts with a slightly tongue-in-cheek video and then goes right on down the line with the most sobering cascade of history and science as it relates to The Shot. What is H1N1? How intense is it? What's going to be in The Shot. Who is really at risk? Does taking The Shot lower or raise the risk of getting sick?

A little blurb. When the World Health Organization ramped Swine Flu up to pandemic status, they left out a minor detail; it has spread quickly, geographically, but what they didn't tell us is that this is a very mild virus, as statistics have clearly revealed. A shocking revelation is that Thimerosal is gonna be in the injection, along with Ethylene glycol (an antifreeze) and formaldehyde. Thimerosal is a mercury compound that is 50 times more toxic than mercury. There are no safe levels of mercury, but because of vaccinations, the average 2-year old is carrying around 237 micrograms of mercury in their bodies.

Basically, a virus is dynamic and is evolution occuring right before our eyes. From the time that a recommendation is made, it takes at least three months to get the ball rolling and then, around nine months (is allocated) to developing an anti serum. That's one year. Metaphorically, it is the equivalent of making 100's of millions of keys...one year before the locks are made...and the structure of the locks are kept secret. No one has an idea if those keys will fit. It's an experiment and the children are the petri dishes.

So, bookmark this site and when you have 15 minutes, take the time to read it. What is more likely than getting Swine Flu is the probability that you will have to face the decision of whether or not to take The Shot.

Immensely important innovation that allowed the dominance of cavalry on the battlefields of Asia and Europe for centuries.

Only the practical application of gunpowder for use by infantry superceded it.
