I liked the first of these when it was released, but I recently saw it again and found it had aged badly, and once you look past the impressive (for their time) special effects, the acting is pretty dismal, including the normally reliable Jeff Goldblum. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a movie so heavily dependant on FX is light on plot, theme, script and acting, but I confess to being disappointed.
