I know this is an unpopular opinion, but to me, football is over rated. I know lots of hard core fans who've given up on it, so I know I'm not alone. Too commercialized, too politicized.

Hockey is under-appreciated. I'm not a huge fan, but it's actually an exciting game to see played by the pros.

I've never seen a MLS game in-person or on tv and I have no desire to do so. I can get into the World Cup, and watching the games in Barcelona cafes during the 2014 World Cup was one of the highlights of that trip. And we all know that the US is not a soccer country, not one that cares much for professional soccer anyway, but that could change over the years as parents are taking their kids out of football and putting them in soccer.

I don't have interest in this league but my cousin is a D-1 basketball player; a former prep school and AAU standout, she has a full scholarship to the University of New Hampshire next season and is expected to start. As a 5'9" guard she doesn't have illusions to play in the WNBA, but I'm glad the league is there for athletes like her to aspire to, and for women in general and all fans of the sport.

I have a lot of respect for hockey players and the fan base is often extremely loyal. I've seen a lot of live hockey as well, including games in Hartford, Boston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver and San Jose, and it's hard to beat the action in a live hockey game. Maybe it's because I've never played the game but I just have a hard time getting excited about what's happening during the season, and really gaining interest in the playoffs doesn't happen too much for me although I was excited about VGK's run last season.

I had to look up what MLL stood for. While I think lacrosse would be a really fun game to play and it's somewhat popular where I'm from in the Northeast, I have very little understanding of how it works and no desire to watch a game.

I can get into football, it's a fun game to watch with friends. However, the thug culture that's pervasive in a lot of the NFL and the brain injuries we're learning more and more about have disconnected me from the game. The kneeling as well has been a distraction; while I understand the movement and appreciate the rights of the players I prefer to leave politics and business separate.

Baseball for me is the easiest game to get into and follow the stats. I have a good foundation in the game which might be why. It's an easy game to watch in person or on tv, and it's possibly the only of the major sports where you can read a book or have a conversation without missing much. However, I'm not sure we can call it "America's pastime" anymore. That crown would probably go to Netflix.
