DURAN...hopefully next time Pacman sings this;I was hoping Miguel Cotto(next 'fight of the century Nov.14)would jump onstage and suckerpunch him.

So I told my dad, the ultra-staunch conservative, that I was going to get the President a gift. He grumbled something to the effect of hoping I hadn't bought into that bullshit too and then he attained a very odd look on his face when I told him I was gonna get Barry some maple syrup, to which I replied, "Think about it, Dad. What goes better with waffles?" I nearly had to pick the crazy old coot up off of the ground from the laughter that comment caused.

Were they ever rivals?

I've always thought it was:

Dylan vs. Fred Neil, or Dylan vs. Dave Van Ronk.

and

Elvis vs. Jerry Lee Lewis (The Killer wins, hands down).

Dylan in a walk. Apart from a handful of songs Elvis makes my teeth hurt.

Dylan may have a voice like a bandsaw going through a duck, but his stuff speaks to me in a way that Elvis never has.

Elvis...as a rule I didn't listen to either of them;you couldn't pay me to listen to Bob Dylan-he gives me an ear ache...he's like fingernails on a blackboard...he's like wakin' up to Glenn Beck in the morning-it doesn't matter what he says. And I dig the idea of Elvis shooting TV sets.

Though both were great and though I really liked Brando in Part 1, I'd have to join most of the critics and say Part 2 was even better- if for no other reason than the famous line, "keep your friends close but keep your enemies even closer".

Depends upon the occasion. Out at a pub with friends, of course the choice is beer, but if I have alcohol with dinner I'll always pick wine (exception to this rule: german food). I enjoy wine for its nuance and beer for its simplicity.

There is nothing like a good Merlot or Cabernet with a meal. For me however, for whatever reason, there is nothing like the headache that follows. I don't care for most white wines; and white zin is like Kool-Aid with a bit of alcohol.
Beer is more practical and more versatile. In reality, there is not that much difference between the $25.00 bottle of wine and the $200.00 bottle. With beer, you can go from crap, to acceptable, to fine pilsner for a difference of only a few bucks.
Give me a beer and a great game of college football anyday.

I love good beer, particularly the great craft breweries of the Pacific Northwest.

I love good wine, particularly those of Australia, California and Italy.

I don't see the two as mutually exclusive.

For the record I also like Irish whiskey and bourbon, gin and tequila, vodka and brandy. It depends on my mood, what's going on and whats for dinner.

Exactly what is the rivalry here?

Musically they're barely in the same ball park.

Hell, they're hardly in the same sport.
