Typical of the "new" Radio Shack the staff lacks any basic knowledge of electronics and electronic parts.
On April 21st, 2009 I went to the local Radio Shack at 4650 Woodrow Bean Transmountain Suite C here in El Paso Texas. I brought a Realistic LifeTime tube 12JB6A with the original box. I asked for a replacement as the tube is weak.
First, she claimed that Radio Shack did not handle Realistic branded items and I'd have to go to "their" store. I pointed out that the box clearly states "Custom Packaged in USA by Radio Shack".
She got on the store with corporate and she could not find the part. She informed me they no longer carry the part and there was no way she could get it.
I've read the forums and blogs, and I know that other Radio Shack stores have managed to get replacement tubes - either unbranded or with limited warranties. I just think that she was not willing to put in the effort it would take.
Nice place for cell phones and satellite dishes, but they don't deserve their brand name ....
