Kentucky "Unbridled Spirit" is the first thing you see when you search the sight for social service offices in Louisville, Kentucky. Apparently the meaning of that quote or the "Community Based Services", idea needs to be over looked. To most individuals, including myself, means an assurance to those seeking public services to be treated fairly,as well as respected. The concept was anything but, according to a recent review of a current visit to the "L&N Building" for social services. Assuming you go to apply for medicaid or check eligibility you expect to be treated as a human not like a peasant. No matter your income, eligibility, decent, citizen or just resident, nothing should justify a disrespectful treatment or uncomfortable zone. As a writer if I am made aware of anything that calls for attention I will gladly make it known to the public to the best of my ability. Not for protest or scorning but for the awareness to everyone from employers to "clients" or "consumers".....what benefit does one get from belittling another or making any experience horrible and tormenting to another human being. Looking beneath the position, background, color, or class....we are all humans. Respect for one another isn't a difficult task unless we never desire it in return. I've taken the idealistic approach and sent a "courtesy alertness" fax to the facility. Just as a form of awareness of the discomfort and horrible service and experience given.
