This is a nice, outdoor place to have an expensive cocktail when in Georgetown and when it's not too hot or too cold. You can usually spot a couple of DC hotshots there whether it be a Hoya coach or player, or a politician.

This is a solid Irish bar.  Back in the day there used to be a place called Tiber Creek next door that served yards of beer.  I had more than a few double header nights where we'd start at Tiber Creek, and end up at the Dubliner.  Good times.

Faux-American Irish pubs are hit-or-miss and I waver on this one. . .but The Dubliner is a decent pub with the beer you'd expect- but it scores a glorious four stars for its great location near the Capitol building and Union Station in DC. If you can get a hotel room in this neighborhood, it's a good start-the-evening bar.

News Cafe is located right in the trendy part of Georgetown along M Street. It has very high quality Italian food with good service. Be prepared to spend a good amount of money...it is Georgetown of course. However, it is well worth it if you are looking for a good Italian meal in DC.

I think I got an appetizer at Brothers once, but I know I had plenty of beers. Great atmosphere for happy hour or a late night bar outing, but I can't truly rate it as a restaurant.

My wife and I went to Jaleo on our anniversary. We both like Tapas style restaurants, and had been wanting to visit Jaleo for some time. It has a good reputation in DC, and I would say that it is well deserved. The service was good and the food was high quality.

Colonel Brooks is a great neighborhood tavern in Brookland. Its a small place, but its the type of bar that feels like a bar. Experienced bartenders, who will engage in conversation instead of turning up the volume on the TV. It gets a more mature crowd than most bars near Catholic University. Its the type of place where you know you will find grad students instead of freshmen. It also has a very loyal and diverse following from the locals in the area. The menu is great, and there are usually good specials.

Good service. Comfortable outdoor seating with excellent "people watching" in Georgetown. Its a nice established place where you know you will get a good drink and meal.
