Uptown cash lures new customers in by way of existing or previous customers. They have a system where they pay an existing customer or a previous customer 25 dollars for every referral that comes in and mentions the person that referred them. I took a loan from them and they gave my sister the 25 dollars. Since I am retired I was promised a lower interest rate. When I came in to pay my interest only, I was told that the next month my interest would be higher. I asked, what about the lower interest rate that was promised to me when I signed the contract, and I was told that the interest was only for one month. This is a rip off. I have seen several elderly persons at the office getting loan and these persons were on social security or fixed incomes. This company charges very high interest rates and they will tell you one thing and when it comes time to pay they tell you something else. This company is in the heart of the poor and oppressed neighborhood, and they are ripping people off, especially the elderly.

This has got to be the worst bank I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. They have been holding my direct deposit checks an extra 2 days. I have had many banks over the years and they always show my money being deposited on Friday. These clowns hold my money until Sunday or even Monday! This has caused some over-draft fees that they will not remove. Often times I will see a balance on their online system that does not reflect the real amount. This isn't a bank error. This is incompetence and robbery!!!!!

Horrible bank - recommend a mattress over this bank which defrauds and face-to-face will bluntly lie to its customers.

This company is a team full of rip-off artists! They keep trying to charge me for some cookware I've already paid off, threatening to have my wages garnished and all this, and now they've stolen over $1500 from my account! They are going to get a HUGE peice of my mind and I'm calling my lawyer. I sincerely regret ever getting involved with this company at all.

My experience with this branch has been fantastic. The workers are extremely friendly. The management staff there walk over to you as soon as you enter wanting to assist you. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and go me where I needed to go. All banks should model this example..maybe they wouldnt be in such a crisis!

They don't want to listen to you.I can guarantee,If you deal with them you will get screwed. They wont refinance if needed.I emailed the vice president of Stearn's and she would not reply. The bank is a joke and a bad one.I had a family member in the hospital dying and told them that is why I was not able to answer the phone or call back right away and they just said "I DONT CARE".That did it for me.That was the beginning of the end.

We had to put a star but if we could have we would have put a pile of crap. My husband and I got involved with them several years ago when we got sucked in to financing a water treatment system(it works great). I called last week on 02-26-09 to get a settlement from them. The person who I have been dealing with, Fransisco Hernandez told me that we could SETTLE with them for 85% of what we owed. My husband and I talked and said ok. I also was told that I could not get anything in writing because it would take 30 days, my fault. We went ahead and made the payment. Stupid, Stupid Stupid. I called yesterday 03-02-09 to find out if our account is now 0 and much to my surprise it was not. I was told by Fransisco that he had forgotten to add the finance charges on and that we still owed 363.00. If I could have gotten through the phone I think I would have hurt him. I tried to argue with him and he would not let me talk. He kept over talking me. Then I asked to speak to his manager and boy that was a joke. He, Mr. Lopez was worse that the other person I was talking to. I turned things over to my husband who took charge and got more done than I did. They were more than willing to fax him a payoff on the account. Why was it so easy for him to get something in writing and not me? Why couldn't they have faxed a letter to me about the "settlement". A settlement that never was in place because Castle Credit would not back up their words. We got screwed. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING.

James Stola has relocated his office to 3057 North Rockwell, Suite 16, Chicago, Illinois 60618. His new telephone number is (773)583-1170. He's been an attorney for over 30 years and has experience in many aspects of the law. His secretary, Carmen, is also very knowledgeable and helpful.

They were helpful in answering my questions when I called but their web site is a little sparse on content. Would be great if their calculator would actually tell you what the fees are.
