What?! I have never seen the employees there push people towards specific spaces, or even get out from behind the counter and ask if they can help with anything! Mostly they just sit behind that big counter, unless you ask for help. Whatever... not the best customer service, but I still really like the Antique Mall of West Seattle (although I always want to call it the West Seattle Antique Mall). The mall has a real mish-mash of different kinds of dealers and items. I consider it kind of a "digger" mall, because even though there are high-end antiques, mid-century stuff, and vintage collectables, there is also quite a bit of crappy new stuff (stuffed animals, ugly truckers hats, etc) mixed in. Oh well, it is all part of the hunt. I rarely go to the basement, because it is kind of a guy's shop and I am kind of a girly-girl, so I mostly shop the main floor and upstairs. The spot right at the top of the stairs has fun things. But the one spot at the back which is entirely vintage clothing is great. Great styles, and the prices are great too! And...the condition is good on all of it, which I can't say for a lot of the vintage clothing dealers in town. I get tired of finding holes and tears and stains on clothing with crazy prices on them. This person knows what he/she (probably she) is doing. So I keep going back and buying cute stuff. I hear there is another vintage clothing dealer up there too now. I will have to go soon and check it out. Note: the "dressing room" is actually a bathroom upstairs, and it is pretty cluttered with cleaning supplies and stuff. But hey- it is clean enough and it has a mirror, so it works. Next to the space with all the clothes, there is another space that has a ton of vintage greeting cards, and wrapping paper and they never seem to run out! I'd rather spend $2.50 on a fabulous old die-cut card with glitter, than some cheesy new one for the same price. Trouble is, sometimes they are so cute I don't want to write in them! Sometimes I just put a Post-It Note inside instead. Anyway, a person can spend a lot of time at the WS mall and find some fun things. Did I mention the prices are better (lower) overall than most of the other malls in town?
