The pros: Some of the greatest looking eyewear I have found anywhere. I have a hard time finding glasses that look good as my facial features are smallish, and most glasses just end up looking like bug eyes on me. I was fortunate enough to fine a great pair of sunglasses there that I really liked. I bought them for over $400 which to me is a gigantic splurge but worth it to finally have a pair of glasses I felt I looked good in.

The cons: When I went outside with my new sporty shades, I quickly realized that these sunglasses were for appearances only. They did next to nothing to block the sun. I sadly went back the next day in hopes of finding more functional pair or perhaps a lens replacement. The only other pair that suited my face was $750 (really?! $750 for sunglasses? I would never have imagined!!). That was out. The store policy is absolutely no returns. I did have my receipt in hand dated less than 24 hours prior, and the glasses were good as new after less than an hour of wearing, but no matter. I looked and looked for another suitable pair, but I came up empty handed. To their credit, the owners do allow store credit, but since I do not live anywhere near Seattle, this was not an option for me.

The staff finally gave me the option of switching my lenses out for some polarized ones which didn't look as cool as as the fade lens but nevertheless seemed a great idea. I would do that! Wait, that will be another $150. To me the $400 was a splurge, this was bordering on ridiculous. I left the shop with a fantastic looking pair of sunglasses that doesn't do shit to block the sun.

One other thing. I do think the folks here in general have good taste. There are a lot of comments about how honest they are. I was sad to say that one of the most off putting things to me was that after I was clearly not finding the right thing to replace my initial love, the gal starting telling me how good a few other pairs looked on me. I wasn't buying it. They were mediocre at best. Final advice is make sure you try them outside before you put down the cash. Don't be fooled into thinking the hundreds of dollars you are spending for a little spindly metal and lenses is assuring quality!

When you walk into Whimsy, it's hard to know where to start. You're bombarded with color and texture and all kinds of fun stuff tucked away in every nook and cranny.

They're constantly getting in new items, and I have a wish list the length of my arm. Right now, my favorite things are the awesome little pillboxes, the amazingly luxurious couch in the front window, the bright red gumdrop stools, the tiny hanging animal cowbells with jingling feet, and the wall-mounted wine racks that look like they belong in a bistro.

They have a website too, which is great because then I don't feel like I'm missing little goodies lurking in the corners.

I just bought a fine Altus Flute, and was looking for a company to do annual maintenance and long-term repair as needed. Some companies are just repair companies and don't have experience building flutes; others are "fast-track" repair "factories".
It was a relief to discover EPPLER FLUTE COMPANY!! Alexander Eppler has been building exquisite wooden flutes and silver flutes for over 30 years, and he knows most everything there is to know about all aspects of flute building, restoration, repair, and maintenance. If you look through his website epplerflutes.com you will see he is not only amazingly experienced, but he is an old-world craftsman of a vanishing breed.
It gives me a sense of peace to know that he will be doing the annual maintenace and long term repair on my fine Altus Flute.

Glasses that enhance your look, not glasses that wear you. Ottica is great at personalizing style and has terrific service.

My first pair of glasses from Ottica were an interesting design but needed constant adjustments and were quite uncomfortable. I gave them another chance a few years later and I was devastated by what occurred.
The frames that they selected where not a good fit for me and the transition lenses that they recommended were not as described. I attempted to return the glasses and take the huge loss because of their return policies but they would not even abide by their own store policies. They had also never given me an option on how to pay, as they state that they do. They charged me in full before I had the glasses in hand so I was stuck when I went to pick them up and was met with disappointment.
What followed was an ugly battle through my credit card company. I was shocked by the false allegations by Ottica and the cruel treatment that I received. As a business owner I pride myself on customer service and that has grown my business successfully.
I have found them to be cruel and dishonorable and their pricing is ridiculous. I certainly do not recommend them.

Complete scam artists. Tried to overcharge me $60.00 blaming the receptionist for mis-communication, then suckered me into paying $100.00 for new lenses when I could have had the damaged coating removed for $10.00. Stay away from these knuckleheads.
