I went through two separate interviews with Dan and Tom Tascar, the two owners of the Aquarium Adventure franchise in Cleveland, Ohio. After I was finally "hired", another new employee and I were scheduled for training on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008. Training lasted two hours. I have heard NOTHING from Aquarium Adventure since that night. I decided to stop in the store to find out what was going on Thursday, Oct. 16. I was told by the manager that they had had no room on the schedule for either of their two new employees (so why did they hire us?) and that they had "forgotten" to call us. But I was assured that I would be put on the schedule soon and that they would contact me. I have called the parent company, Petland, to register a complaint, but the Petland rep said that because Aquarium Adventure is a privately owned franchise, the best they could do is to notify the franchise owners that they have received a complaint. I have also reported the issue to the corporate headquarters but the the Tascars will not respond to their calls either. I have still not been paid for the time I was there for training.
