I had foot surgery in July here. I like the surgeon, but the hospital is run very badly. I showed up on time at 5:45a for a 7:30 surgery.
No one was available to check us patients in. We waited in the main floor lounge until 6:20. When we were brought up to the patient area, there was no one there to check us in. An industrious nurse (one of the few) assigned us to changing areas. At 7:30a, my medical records had still not arrived. The anaesthesiologist was not the doctor requested and okayed. The surgery was to have been under local anaesthetic, not general. However, somehow I was given general.
I was to have received a 72 hour pain block during surgery, but they forgot. In the Recovery Room, the pain began in earnest. They got another anaesthesiologist to put in a catheter for the pain block. He had a very young lady who I believe made the error in the operating room.
When I was being discharged, no one knew what type of "boot" I should receive. I asked repeatedly whether I could eat when I got home. No one could give me an answer.
The catheter fell out the next morning. I received a cursory call from the hospital, totally unhelpful, the next morning.
I will not have another surgery at this hospital.
