This one is a little personal but I bet you guys reading this will get a kick out of it. My wife and I have been married for ten years now. We just had our tenth anniversary, now guys pay close attention here; when you and your friends organize golf weekend, do not schedule it on the same weekend as your anniversary!!! Your wife will not appreciate it.
Well I am sure you get the point, I was so go until alcohol was involved. I kept reminding myself that the anniversary was coming so I should be aware of it but after few rounds of drinks and friends with blackberrys who can make online flight, hotel and green reservations should not be mixed.
Make the whole thing brief, when I forgot about the anniversary and told her about our gold weekend she almost blew the gasket...Well, I had to cancel the trip but still pay for the deposit then I had to find a way to make it up to her. Couch is not that comfy even though you get to watch TV without anyone bothering you until the early hours of the morning.
One of my genius friends who happened to come up with golf weekend idea came to my help. Let's say he's got personal experience on this subject. He said that last time he had a little bit of issue with his wife he got her a nice pair of diamond studs, dinner and night at hotel with spa certificate.
Hey, at that point I was ready to shell out the money. He suggested me to go see his jeweler on 47th street, he said he always came through for him like delivering last minute gifts and jewelery to his office, etc. for forgotten birthdays, anniversary, what have you...
Anyway, I went to see Boris at Shenoa & Co on 47th street. He is a great guy, he's been in the business for years so he told me his specialty is husbands living in the dog house and he guarantees a one way ticket back to your own bed.
I knew I had to get something impressive so I asked Boris to show me some princess diamond studs, one carat on each ear in a gold or platinum setting. He said because they have a wholesale diamond division they have one of the largest inventories in the country and even supplying to some of those popular online sites. To prove it he showed me to diamonds with GIA certificates and what you know after a quick search online, one of those online jewelry sites everyone knows about has them listed on their website, showing them the same exact certificate he was holding in his hand. Here is a little insider info: Those online stores with thousands of diamonds in their inventory is all virtual, they get data feeds from diamond wholesalers like Shenoa then if it gets purchases they call and ask them to mail it to them overnight so they can show an impressive inventory without actually having to spend a dollar.
Overall, I got the pair of diamond studs with 20% less than it was listed on that web and Boris even upgraded me from gold to platinum setting at no additional cost.
I hope I won't have to buy these too often but say the least she was extremely happy when she saw them after the dinner with her tea and I was happy to be back sleeping in my bed that same night. My Outlook already has all the birthdays, anniversaries scheduled with plenty of reminder time...
