This was the worse experience I have ever had with a vet. Tonight, I took our cat to IVEC because he was having trouble urinating. Once we finally got him there they took him from us and took us to a room. After being away from him for an hour and a half and in a room waiting on someone to come in, a woman comes in and says hes plugged up. Now mind you, she didnt even introduce herself. We didnt know if she was the vet, a tech, or what she was. She immediately hands a bill saying to help him would be a 2 day procedure. After flipping through 3 pages of things that would be needed, the total would be $2000!!!! On the list it included a $20 ice pack, $13 bandages and $84/day to check on him. We were in such shock when we saw the bill we just told her we didnt have the money. She then told us she could take $160.00 off, but thats it. We told her it still wasnt possible. She then presented us with another bill for $900.00 (thought that $1700 was the best she could do!?!) We told her it was still too much. My mom went on to ask her questions and why it wasnt possible to do something else. She avoided certain questions and was rude and condescending when she answered. She said she would check and see what she could do. Now remember our cat is still not with us and we havent seen him since we walked in the door (2 hours before). After an additional 20 minutes she comes back in and hands us a bill for $393.00 for what she said would be the minimum things she could do. During all these conversations she is telling us that if we take him home, he could die because his bladder could rupture, and that he needs treatment. (We get that we just didnt have the money and quite frankly we wanted to wait for our real vet and not be with someone so rude!) We told her no and that we just wanted our cat and that he already had an appt. in the morning with our real vet. Our cat was finally brought to us and she walked off from us without saying anything. It wasnt even until we got our final bill and asked the receptionist what her name was (Dr. Holman). Another person that was in front of us said that she couldnt believe how rude and condescending the Dr. was to her and that she would be seeing her vet tomorrow. NEVER WILL BE GO BACK THERE AGAIN! I have never felt so disrespected by anyone as I felt when that Dr. was talking to us. How can someone that is dealing with people that have sick animals and are obviously emotional and willing to do anything for their pets be so rude and uncompassionate to people? After reading the reviews it looks like were not the only one that this has happened to. We have been so happy with our regular vet (Dr. Clark in Franklin) and we will take our cat to the Airport Emergi-center if anything ever happens again.
