Gate 7 is the truth when it comes to underground hip-hop production. They do music for films, commercials, PSA,s and several artist! Check out their myspace page and look out for PG, a MC that has prolific lyrics!

I have taken piano, guitar, and voice lessons at Meridian Music over the past 8 years. Every one of my teachers was amazing, with college degrees in music, previous experience, connections, and plenty of knowledge! I have gotten to know a lot of the teachers just from spending time there, and have not met one teacher who was not welcoming, nice, and genuine. With sound-proof practice rooms, an upright piano in each room, and a beautiful recital hall (Munger Hall), Meridian Music is really the ideal place for any sort of music lesson! Downstairs, the beautiful grand pianos, uprights, Clavinovas (digital pianos), and even used pianos dazzle students as they walk to their rooms upstairs. The sales people are always very friendly and so helpful! Whether you are coming in to get a piano or not, you can expect an honest answer about any of your piano or music questions. Located on the same floor as the spectacular pianos is Dave's Music Den. Daves is actually a separate company located inside of Meridian Music. If they do not have the sheet music you are looking for on the floor, they can find it on their computer and print it out for you. They have everything from piano books, lamps, and guitar strings. I would strongly recommend Meridian Music to anyone looking for lessons, a piano, or sheet music.

I suppose you MIGHT be able to find something in a Big Lots store - if you're willing to put the effort into it. If I'm looking for a bargain I'd rather take my chances at sales at places (like Target) which feature higher quality and better organized merchandise.

This is a downtown college campus bookstore which deals mainly in text books. As I recall, the people who work here tended to be rude - in the way people are when they have little or no competition. Also, other than texts, the merchandise was scant and fairly overpriced. Paper supplies were something I only bought here if I couldn't make it to a more reasonably priced store. I believe they may have gotten their comeuppence a few years ago when a little strip mall was built just off campus which included a bookstore with the same texts. Competition can be a beautiful thing!

Borders is also a wonderful book store franchise and one of the first I ever happened upon. Sadly, one has never opened on my side of town and I rarely have a chance to make it to the sides of town that have them. But, if they ever do they would definately be in competition with Barnes and Noble for my business.

I know Barnes and Noble is a chain and all of them are fairly similar. But, I still enjoy going there and browsing around. I was thrilled when they finally decided to build one on my side of town. Not only that, but it is also conveniently located on my route home every night!
