I called them this morning regarding our refrigerator which was leaking at the bottom. The phone was answered promptly and courteously. I explained the problem and told them the make and model as requested. They told me that a technician would call me back for further information and as to when he could be out to the house. A technician did cal and again I explained the problem as well as the make & model. He explained he would try his best to be here around 2pm and he was prompt. However..... he looked at the fridge and told my wife that he could not repair this fridge (GE Profile) because the "lines are very close together" and would leak again so they would not warranty it and therefore not work on it. Recommended that we call factory service. Then he did us a VERY big favor and told my wife that he would only charge $69 rather the $89 he would have charged if he had had to fix it. My wife paid because she was alone at home and did not wish to get into a confrontation. I called the company after I got home to ask why they could not have told me that it could be a number of things like a bad valve and also that there was a possibility that the line was bad & in that case they would not be able to fix it. I could have then have made the decision as to whether or not to have them come out. The man on the phone kept talking over me advising me to keep everything documented when GE came out because he guaranteed me GE would patch the line & it would leak again. Also to put my insurance company on notice. When I finally got a chance to talk & I told him I felt scammed, he suddenly had a long distance call to answer. I suppose it's easier to make $69 in 5 minutes without doing any work than charge $89 for actually having to do some work. They advertise that they work on all makes and models, so they should have been able to work on ours. Be warned, you may needlessly spend $69.
