Eh, I'm usually pretty flexible with things and how artists act.
Going in, I spoke with Cantu and had a similar problem like someone else has mentioned. Cantu was advertising to barter for work, instead of money. We agreed on something, and he had told me he would DO the work I asked for, for what I was trading in. Everything went smooth from meeting, to talking, to negotiating, and to planning when to come back and get it done.
He did half the drawing, which took 5 hours and some change. I understand where he was doing it (hips/ribs) takes some time, but 5 hours? I don't know. He said he had to stop, and for me to come back in a few weeks to finish it.
2 Weeks went by, I emailed him again to thank him for his work and that it looked good. He did a nice job, besides not finishing it. So I emailed him to clarify that the next appointment was still along the lines of what we agreed on (the barter would cover it). No answer.
Called back a couple times the next week, nothing. Went IN to the shop and talked to the other artists, only to be told "he's been busy". I was confused as to why he couldn't just take 2 minutes and tell me that himself.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I emailed him again, apologized if I was nagging, and said if the barter was going to cover everything, and that bothered him, then I understand. But if he wants me to pay, then just say so, name me a price. No answer.
Finally I emailed him a third time, he responded. Saying he would like cash, named a price... kept it short.
But this time, I watched an episode of A&E's "Intervention", a show where a crew films a mini documentary on a drug addict, or some one with a specific disorder.. this weeks episode, a heroin addict who works at Angry Moon.
I don't CARE if he got clean, or I missed something, that said enough. The words "addict" and "tattoo artist" should not be mentioned in the same sentence. So that was enough for me, I can go elsewhere and finish it.
So, all in wall... extremely poor communication, too long of a session, and.. I don't know. The place is closed down anyway.
