Help support this local, family owned business! Now located on the border between the Squirrel Hill and Greenfeld neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, Optical Outlet has sold designer eyeglasses and sunglasses at discount prices for the past 50 years.

This is one of the reasons that I'm so glad I reside in Pittsburgh. Jerry's is THE source for vinyl in the 'burgh. It's cash only so remember to hit the ATM before you head there. An unassuming entrance and a narrow stairway seemingly wallpapered with flyers open up onto the glory that is Jerry's. Vinyl as far as the eye can see. Every genre you can imagine is represented here. They keep a number of bins towards the front of the store where they pull interesting selections from their overstock. There are ALWAYS worth a gander. Alternative, soul, rock, reggae, blues, classical, production music, jazz, opera, dance, polka, ska, new age, instrumental, doo wop, instructional, local acts, whatever you're looking for it's likely that Jerry's probably has it. My favorite section is Disco Weirdness tucked into an obscure corner of the store, but I won't say where. You'll have to go to Jerry's and hunt for it yourself. ;)

Reasonably priced, well-stocked and an excellent selection of quality music. In addition to their indie section, they have a decent-sized experimental section as well as an electronic section where you can find labels such as Kompakt, Warp, Rune Grammafon, Bpitch Control and other quality imprints. They also have a small section of used CDs, where I always end up digging up something interesting. They cater to the collector - it's also a good source for plastic cd and vinyl sleeves.

a toy store in the old mold. my pop used to take me to Randell's in downtown when i was a kid. together we'd check out the die-cast metal soldiers. Randall's does have contemporary toys but for the child interested in more folksy fare(puppets/soldiers) this is the place. great board game selection.

not so much a fan of this place. they keep their cds behind glass so it's impossible to see album artwork etc. most of the shops have those lousy $1 bins overrun w/Nelson and Mr.Big Cds.

located in bloomfield, one of the best indie-stores in the city. cateres to alot of the hipster element, but you can't discount their good taste. if you're a fan of bands like Polvo, Pavement, Guided By Voices, or newer bands like the Black Keys, Neutral Milk Hotel, then Paul's is the place for you. A Vinylhead? no problem. chances are good he's got the new releases on the ole 12inch as well.
