Horrible business!!! Very dishonest!! Mean to the animals - they keep the animals caged up till they know it's close to your pick up time and then let them out. Dogs become aggressive because they are put into situations where they are unable to defend themselves. Workers use plastic bats to hit the animals (bigger dogs) to break up a fight. Owner does not care about the customer's concerns - if you only bring your pet there 2/3 times a week, it's not enough money to him to want to treat you with respect. He would rather have you take your business elsewhere before having to keep you and resolve an issue. Many workers come and go, so you never know who is really watching your animal. Some are high school or college kids looking for a job and don't know how to really deal with a pack of dogs.

Again - HORRIBLE BUSINESS!!!!!!

I work at a chain pet store and heard of customers going to Tropical World Pets and finding exotic fish. So I was looking for something different for my fish tank. The store had a wide verity of fish, but when I had a question over one of the fish there was no employee to answer it. I continued to walk around the store for about 5 minutes till I decided to leave. On my way out there were 2 employees outside smoking. The store has a wonderful verity of fish but lousy customer service.

My experience with one of the managers named Sadie Stark was enough to force me never to do business with Happy Tails again. As a patron of Happy Tails of over a year and a half, it's amazing to me that Sadie Stark will not be reasonable enough that I walk in 5 minutes past check out time not only to make me pay $20 but also to consistently lie and misinform me about being reasonable about the times from before. Never do business while Sadie Stark is there.

I have been taking my dogs to this office for the past four years and have never found the staff to be that friendly or impressive, but the office is close to home and I found the vet to be competent, so I continued to patronize them.

That is until today. Now I wouldnt return to this office if they paid ME to come thereand I strongly recommend that you dont either. I keep my dogs VERY up to date on their shots and care, nail trimming, teeth cleaning you name it, and this lady treated me like a second class citizenshe must have been having a bad day, but I work in a HIGH stress position in the medical field and no matter how stressed I am, I always try to be courteous and professional to my patients and I expect the same from others.

The story in short is that I stopped by the office to pick up my dogs shot records and some heartworm medication and walked in and was greeted by one of the vet tech/office personnel (well call her Miss B.) Her poor attitude was apparent right from the first words we spoke. She acted like she was doing me a favor by giving me my dogs shot records and when I went to purchase the heartworm medication she refused to sell it to me on the grounds that my dogs had not been blood tested recently. I pointed out to her that they had never made me aware of this and she had the nerve to tell me that was MY responsibilityhuh?...MY responsibility to know what is in THEIR records? I am not a vet Excuse me Miss B, isnt that your offices job?

Now, I am all for doing the things properly, and I pointed out to Miss B that in the past this had never been an issue, and she even ADMITTED to me that they had made the MISTAKE SEVERAL TIMES of providing me with heartworm medication without the proper testing (says a lot for their offices competence doesnt it?) I told her I was unable to bring my dogs in right away, but asked her if she would be willing to provide me with a temporary dose so that my dogs wouldnt be unprotected and she flat out refused to help me. After some words between us she said theres the door sir and I left.

Obviously pet care and customer service comes second to money in this office.

Normally I wont expect the rules to be broken for me, I get that, but just a few months ago I had my dogs in their office and had spent well over $500, not to mention the THOUSANDS of dollars I have spent there in the past four years! I wish I would have never given them a dime!

Oh, and when I called to complain to Dr Knubley about his rude staff-member, he couldnt have cared less. I told him I would pull my dogs charts and take my business elsewhere, he asked me where I wanted them faxednice guy let me tell you.

Folks, these people dont care about your pets; they care about the money in your bank account going into theirs, its as simple as that.

By the way, I after this experience I drove down the street to another vet office where I walked in, explained the situation and was immediately accommodated. I am having my records sent there and have an appointment next week.

Dont waste your time at Oakville Vet Office.

This pet shop is not open any more at this location. The Hampton store is now a futon store.

I've been an avid hobby aquarist for 20 years. Tropical World Pets is the most trustworthy place in STL to buy tropical fish. You won't receive any bad advice there. Employees are knowledgable, and more importantly, quick to consult with more experienced employees/managers if they are unsure of info.
At local chain pet stores, I have seen people sell Oscars to kids who have a 10 gallon aquarium, they will say anything to make a sale. Most stores don't care what happens to the animal once it leaves the premises. Not so at TWP, I have always seen them give correct info and good advice, even if it costs them a sale.
The fish at Tropical World are very well taken care of. The managers obviously care about selling healthy, quality fish, and about doing things right. It is important to me to give my business to a store that cares about the animals they sell. I will not buy fish or supplies anywhere else.
