This place is busy because it’s the only Coach store in Anchorage. The merchandise is impeccable, but they don’t always have the newest stuff in the store. The salespeople are genuinely nice and take sweet and helpful to a new level. One very nice girl chatted me up, gave me her number, and became my facebook friend.

My friends who like to sew love coming here. From what I can remember, they have an extensive selection of cloth and yarn at reasonable prices. One of my friends made her prom dress out of material acquired solely from here.

I bought all of my winter coats and ski/snowboarding clothes here in high school. They’re pricey, so if you’re looking for a significant item of clothing (i.e., snowpants, down jacket), expect to spend a few hundred dollars. I bought a kick-ass pair of snowboarding pants here a few years ago, and they’re so warm that I don’t need to wear anything under them when I go skiing.

Buying stuff from here was like a fad in my high school. Everyone had to have jackets and water bottles from REI. This is the place to go for quality sports equipment, whether you want a snowboard, a tent, or a warm windbreaker. They have a wide selection of outdoors clothes, and their fleece jackets are top-notch.

An inexpensive jewelry, makeup, and accessories shop that follows the latest teenage trends. I loved shopping here in high school. They seemed to have all the unnecessary stuff I needed. They also do ear piercings.

The most memorable feature of this mall is the ice skating rink in the center. There is also a bowling alley, athletic club, and small library. This is purportedly the biggest mall in Anchorage, but business always seems slow.

This is a piano dealership with the largest selection of Steinways and Yamahas in Anchorage. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. My parents and two of their friends each bought a Steinway grand from here within the same month a decade ago. All three pianos were exquisite and flawlessly constructed.

A pipe and tobacco shop in downtown Anchorage. The glass pipes they sell here are beautiful and well-constructed, and the tobacco is decent. The people working the counter are friendly, helpful, and laid-back.

A large secondhand clothing store in Anchorage. I came here first thing after I turned eighteen because my parents prohibited me from buying used clothes when I was an adolescent. This place did not disappoint. I found quality clothing ranging from the quirky to the hilarious for unbelievably cheap prices (we’re talking $1.50 for a shirt). Six years later, I’m still wearing them.

My mom, who used to play violin in the Anchorage Symphony, comes here frequently to have adjustments done on her violin and help her friends select new violins. This place also carries other stringed instruments (i.e., violas, cellos). The owner, Petr, is very knowledgeable and diligent, and can be seen at his workbench throughout the day.
