Historical Events that Your Parents or Close Relatives Experienced Directly or Were Close Observers

A lot of the way we learn history is oral, and a lot of our attitudes are shaped by stories we hear from our family. I thought it might be interesting to create this kind of list. Sorry about the clunky title, I'll try and edit it down later.

Star Rating Scale: 1 = Unimportant / 2 = Minimally significant / 3 = Somewhat significant / 4 = Significant / 5 = Very significant
