Yesterday Univ. of Cincinatti President Nancy Zimpher gave highly successful basketball coach Bob Huggins a 24 hour ultimatum to resign or be fired. Her explanation was that she expected the school to recruit athletes who set good public examples and were better academically qualified to be attending a university.
I wholeheartedly support her move. Major colleges have become the minor leagues for the NBA and NFL. To have teams representing your school partially comprised of persons who are unqualified to be in college is insulting to the students and harmful to the school's academic reputation.
The following is a list of people Dr. Zimpher would not want to see decked out in Bearcats black and red uniforms.
