ReviewerIn 1986, the FDA was charged with setting standards for how much filth in food is too much. So basically, numbers were set. If 7 rat hairs per 10 grams of food are considered defective, then 6 hairs are fine. This list comes from Disinfo Book of Lists 5 = That's disgusting!
