Acceptable Levels of Filth in Food

In 1986, the FDA was charged with setting standards for how much filth in food is too much. So basically, numbers were set. If 7 rat hairs per 10 grams of food are considered defective, then 6 hairs are fine. This list comes from Disinfo Book of Lists

Star Rating Scale: 1 = What's the problem? / 2 = I can live with it / 3 = I'll hold my nose / 4 = Kind of gross / 5 = That's disgusting!

Chocolate: 3 or more rodent hairs OR 90 or more insect fragments are unacceptable in a 100-gram sample.

Macaroni and noodle products: Don't average 225 insect fragments or more per 225 grapms in 6 or more subsamples. That's 1 insect fragment per gram.
