As much of the suburban U.S., and even some city centers, continue to become a uniform strip mall in which nothing even remotely interests me, I will sometimes see a few familiar names that I actually welcome. Even those among us who get self-righteous about globalization and corporatization have to admit that there are a few places we gravitate towards. Add your favorite hip chain stores, whether restaurant, grocery, clothes, etc., to this list. No Gap or McDonald's please.
