Bill Richardson was born in 1947 in California. He served in the US Congress representing New Mexico for fifteen years, as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in 1997, and as US Secretary of Energy from 1998 to 2001. Elected Governor in 2002 by a landslide, he has worked to improve the quality of education, cut taxes and make New Mexico safer. Richardson is up for re-election in 2006.
