I visited in the summer nine years ago, when it was warm and sunny. My parents and I stayed in the nice, ritzy part of the city where there were nice shops and restaurants and clean streets. We went on a boat tour of the Chicago River, which was framed by shiny, new skyscrapers. My impression of Chicago was nothing like the sordid tales of robbery and murder I've heard about.

A respectable, peaceful, clean suburban city with nice houses and nice people. Everybody seems to be upper middle class. I have fond memories of this city because I had a best friend who lived here. This is an excellent place to raise a family and lead a quiet, stable lifestyle.

This place was lively and touristy when I was here several years ago. The entire marekt smelled like fish, but I didn't mind because the fish throwing and the fresh seafood more than made up for it (I had me some yummy clam chowder). If I remember correctly, the market is walking distance from the Experience Music Project, which I recommend visiting.

A big white sand beach that is popular but not too crowded. I came here in the winter six years ago and loved how the weather was warm (80 degrees) and sunny. My memory of the shops in the area is vague, but I do remember that the Salvador Dali Museum (a must-see) was close by.

I have dry, thick hair, and I used Pantene shampoos for years. The hydrating shampoos were very effective at making my hair soft and non-frizzy. They may add a layer of "wax" to your hair, but I don't see anything wrong with it, because aren't all conditioners essentially waxy?

Excellent food (remains excellent even after you take it home and re-heat it), lightning-fast service, good-size portions, and relatively cheap prices ($8-10/entree). This place is busy, but I have never had to wait to be seated. The waiters are quick to bring your food and refill your water glass. And the bathroom is very clean, which is unusual for Chinese restaurants.

They have long sushi and sake menus. I spent an intense fifteen minutes trying to decide which sushis to get. Their vegetarian, tuna, and tempura sushis are good, but their ikura sushi was fishier and more bitter than I'm used to. I hear the service is usually fast, but they were slow to serve us when I came here for lunch.

A cute, one-street town near Lake Tahoe that is populated by respectable, suburban, outdoorsy people. They have several rustic (and inexpensive) bars and nice restaurants, as well as clothes boutiques and glass/art galleries. This town is an easy driving distance from several Tahoe ski resorts.

Very picturesque and fun to drive or run across. You can admire the Boston skyline or the Cambridge/MIT skyline, depending on which side you stand on. This is the practice site of the MIT, Harvard, and BU rowing teams. If you don’t row, get someone to take you out on a sailboat.

I bought a sexy green jersey dress here a few years ago. The salespeople were nice. The store wasn’t very big, but they had a good selection of pretty dresses and tops.
