I like watching, playing, and talking about sports way more than I do anything relating to politics. I find it necessary to keep up with what happens in the world of politics, but there is no way I would ever find it more enjoyable than a good game.

Teixeira is in just his 7th year in the Majors, but he has been stellar that whole time. He has never hit less than 26 homeruns, and has batted in over 100 runs in five straight years. Now that he is with the Yankees I assume he will continue to put up big numbers. Along with Pujols and Rodriguez he is probably the best power hitter in baseball right now. I would be surprised if he doesn't become a Hall of Fame type player as his career extends.

Update: I originally added Blalock to the list because I wanted a mix of older and younger players to rate. Blalock was coming off of a stellar season and was one of the young players more highly thought of. He has not duplicated that type of season that he had in 2004, and has struggled to stay healthy the last few years. He still has good homerun power, but the rest of his numbers just aren't adding up. Hank is proof that big hype and a good start don't make a career.

2/21/2006 - Blalock has a long way to go in his career. However, he certainly has started off strong and may become a Hall of Fame candidate if he keeps playing at a high level.

Update: Since my last review, Hudson has gone 40-29 with a 3.86 ERA. Thats very good but not great, however, it doesn't eliminate him from Hall of Fame contention in the broad extent of his career. The big issue for him is that he wasn't healthy for all of 2008, and has yet to pitch in 2009. He'll have to come back strong from his injury for a few years to give himself a decent chance.

11/3/2005 - Of Oakland's former big 3, I think Tim Hudson might have the best chance of being a Hall of Famer. At this point he has the sixth best winning percentage of all time. With over 100 wins already and only 29 right now, he should have a high win total if he pitches into his late 30's. Hudson has already been pitching at a Hall of Fame caliber level, and just needs to maintain his strong pitching to get to Cooperstown.

Update: Buerhle might be an interesting argument for the Hall one day. He has never been the best pitcher in baseball, but he looks like he is going to be one of those guys who compiles great career stats because of his consistency. Since 2001 he has never started less than 30 games or finished with less than double digit wins. At 8-2 so far in 2009, he looks to be having another great season. If he stays consistent until age 40, than his career stats will look very impressive.

7/31/2006 - He has had a great career up until this point, but he has looked awful lately. Hopefully for him he is just having a slump in his career, and he isn't losing his edge as one of the best picthers in baseball.

Update: Vlad has been struggling so far in 2009, but a chest injury has had something to do with that. He is having a poor season this year at age 34, but that shouldn't taint the amazing years he has had for over a decade. His career numbers are amazing, and he can become a Hall of Fame lock if he can rebound and put up a few more good years at the plate.

2/21/2006 - Vlad is an offensive powerhouse. He has been one of the better players in baseball over the last 5 years, and I see no reason why he won't keep it up in the future. If he does than he will be a likely hall of famer some day.

A holiday to promote hate. Hmmm...considering this on the 4th of July really seems un-American.

The Hangover is a great comedy, and probably the funniest movie I have seen in theaters since Wedding Crashers. The whole theater was cracking up throughout the movie, and it really was a great environment for laughing. There were some great lines in the movie, especially from Zach Galifianakis and the chinese guy that jumped out of the trunk. The Hangover surely isn't a movie for those who don't care for gratuitous male nudity for the sake of comedy, but for anybody who appreciates Old School, American Pie, or similar movies, than The Hangover is a can't miss comedy. I knew I would love this movie when I saw the previews, and The Hangover didn't disappoint at all. This is an instant classic when it comes to comedies.
