The King James Bible is the main bible version to study. If you need a modern Bible translation read both modern and the King James version of the Bible this will fill in the blanks if the newer version left words out, or changed wording to reflect modern terminology.

How would you like it if you got a book on our Founding Fathers and the information was unreliable? What about that famous apocryphal story that George Washington cut down his father's prize cherry tree with his new axe and said when questioned , confessed with the words, "I can not tell a lie.

How about history's original legend of President Lincoln being known as "Honest Abe? Would you feel betrayed to discover those were embellished stories you thought were true? How is it a film can be called the BIBLE yet reinvent portions of the story and contradict the way the Bible reports the story, and call it THE BIBLE? Pew research conducted a survey on religion and bible facts in 2009 (look it up) and Atheist scored higher than Christians. Christians are making films when it appears they have not read the entire bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse?

For the sake of time I'm only citing a few examples of what is written in the bible vs the Fiction in the film.

Here is what the bible said about Jesus appearance. It is contrary to most films that have a handsome appealing Jesus portraying him,

Isaiah 53:2-- He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Film Fiction: The film version of Jesus was an attractive actor who looked more like a model ready to go surfing on a beach in California. Judas is usually portrayed in film as dark haired and ethnic looking...so typically stereotypical.

The bible said Satan transforms as an Angel of light, not a white Moroccan in black face. If people do not realize stereotypes and public perceptions are shaped by world wide films they are sadly ignorant of the facts, naive and gullible.

2nd Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Bible Version: The bible describes Satan as originally created by God as a beautiful high ranking Angel. Satan transforms into a Angel of light, not black. (People who have Near Death experiences--or claim to see Angels in a vision beware of this)

Film Fiction: The Satan in this movie was a white Moroccan in black face, resembling and aged President Obama. The History Channel and Film Producers notice the character of Satan resembles our President but conservative devout Mormon Glen Beck made a statement that Satan looks like that guy (implying this film's Satan looked like Obama). That was so disrespectful to have the face of Satan look like our first black President

Bible Version: The Wise Men who bought the baby Jesus gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh did not appear at the Manger the night Jesus was born. They arrived later when Jesus was older and living in a house
King Herod told the wise men to find the child and report back to him so that he may worship this newly born King too. Herod never revealed he really sought to kill Jesus whom he felt threatened his rule but hid this from the Magi. They were warned in a dream to not report back to King Herod.

Film Fiction: Herod angrily told the Magi (Wise men) he was the only King and showed them outrage and anger as they rode away they said Herod can't help us and they continued looking. They arrived at the manger in a Stable the night of his birth.

The MAGI FOUND Jesus as a child living in a house, which meant they did not arrive the same night he was born in a manger in a Stable. They arrived much later.

Matthew 2:11 " And they came into the HOUSE and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented to Him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

Bible Version: When John the Baptist was killed it was due to his being tricked into giving his wife's daughter the head of John the Baptist because her mother his wife despised John the Baptist and devised a scheme to have her daughter dance for the King then when the King told her to ask for anything she wanted she asked for head of John the Baptist on a tray. An earlier bible verse was clear King Herod did not want to kill John the Baptist because he knew he was a Prophet.

Matthew 14:8 At her mother's urging, the girl said, "I want the head of John the Baptist on a tray!"

Film Fiction:Herod went into the dungeon where John the Baptist was held a prisoner, mocking him then had him killed as he watched.

Bible Version: Jesus wept at Lazarus tomb, told the men to roll the stone away. Stood outside and yelled for the crowd to hear, "Lazarus, come forth".
Then told the men to untie him from his grave clothes because he was bundled up and tied in his grave clothes.

Film Fiction: The men pulled rocks from the tomb to make an entrance then Jesus went into the grave, kissed Lazarus's the top of head and Lazarus got up and walked out of the grave with Jesus

John 11:43 Then Jesus shouted, "Lazarus, come out!"

Bible Version: The Three Hebrew young men of the bible were not thrown into the fire by the King. The King had them thrown in then had the fire heated up so that the men that threw them in died from the heat.

Film Fiction: The King personally threw the three young men in and threw a torch in with them.

Daniel 3:22 And because the king, in his anger, had demanded such a hot fire in the furnace, the flames killed the soldiers as they threw the three men in.

The film accurately showed how the three young men did not burn in the fire because they were protected from God but why did it have the King throwing them in the fire when they could have told the story the way the bible reported it?

Fact: On the Apostle Paul. He saw the risen Christ looking upward to the sky, Jesus was shining brighter than the Sun.

Film Fiction: Jesus stood face to face and kissed Paul on the head.

The bible never reported that Jesus kissed Paul on the head after his conversion. Neither did the Apostle Paul ever report this as happening when he recounted the story of his conversion in the book of Acts. Why did they add or take away from the Bible if they were going to call it The BIBLE?

Acts 22:6-8 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’

I started to give it a 1 star but reconsidered because this epic is very entertaining. At least it gets a conversation started about Jesus and the Bible. I'd recommend people fact check and compare the Bible to this film though.

They were great for that time period and their music fits the time they were in vogue. If the Beatles came out in this time period I wonder how famous they would be? It's just like looking at a movie made in 1950, 1960 or 1970 and comparing it for today..it just ain't the same. People associate the Beatles music with their life history and historical events of that time period.
I was shopping at the local the mall the other day and saw a picture that was for sale of Marilyn Monroe. Not trying to be critical of her but in reality there's actresses to date that look way better but Marilyn was the it girl of her generation. She is still celebrated as a legend, same thing could be said of the Beatles. The Beatles music represents our life and past precious memories. This makes them larger than life but in reality there are much better musicians today.

I wasn't in the least bit fooled by their tithe mandate. It's getting old having to deal with so many bible illiterates and tithe legalist who try to put curses on us if we can't faithfully pay tithes in cash money at church. Maybe another Martin Luther protest is needed? Where are the Martin Luthers when we need them?

Galatians 5:4, Galatians 3:13, Galatians 2:16, Colossians 2:14, Romans 10:4, Romans 8:1 debunks the lie that Christians must Tithe or be cursed. If only Christians would only take the time to read these Bible verses in the New Testament part of the bible and the whole New Testament while their at it.

You don't have to attend a church these days to look up their sermons on television or the Internet in order to get a good idea of their doctrine. No two experiences are alike even if you grow up in the same household you could have differences of opinions on parents and relatives based on how they related to each kid. People being what they are (flawed) mean no place is perfect. This is why some people don't bother to go to church at all. Working threw conflicts and not running from discomfort could be a sign of maturity in some instances.

Update: 3-18-13 He has been stuck on the New Covenant and Grace teaching of late with harsh criticism for those who are religious legalist. Funny cause his teaching was legalistic for years esp when he made that stupid comment some years back with no apology that he would shoot all non-tithers if they did not keep the tithe law with Uzi's if not for the blood of Jesus. If that silly remark was not Old Covenant legalism I don't know what is. Now Dollar is saying everything a Christian merits is by unmerited favor due to Jesus and his payment on the cross.
However, just like I thought he still found a way to keep those tithes coming in.. He still cleverly thought up a way to enforce getting that ten percent in dollars (tithes) even under the New Covenant and all that grace teaching. When it comes to tithe teachers they hold on to enforcing tithe payments like a dog to his bone. The up keep on Dollar's mansion and personal airplane takes dollar bills y'all.

Update: 2-19-13 I saw him on a recent Life-Time fictional movie called: "Pastor Brown" Creflo Dollar's acting role was playing a Pastor and talking to the daughter of a wayward Pastor Brown's daughter (the star of the show) In the movie he encouraged Pastor Brown's troubled ex-stripper daughter with so much forgiveness, sympathy and compassion. Wonder why he did not give his real life wayward teen daughter that same compassion that night she called the Police on him like he did in his acting role on Pastor Brown? Why did Dollar's daughter make an allegation that her father hit her and his other daughter confirmed it according to the report some months back? It was also reported Pastor Dollar's kid said she was afraid of him but very good acting on the compassion for that wayward Pastor Brown's daughter and showing her compassion for her messes in that pretend movie. That was only acting. Creflo Dollar was a really good actor on that other show, the Pastor Brown show.

You drunk driving idiots are ruining St. Patrick's day and causing car accidents, like the dent in my car. There should have been a disclaimer to stay off the road after Happy Hour on St. Patrick's day yesterday.

Too much green beer drunks. Just to think this is how the Evangelist of Ireland and the Ireland Patron Saint is honored...get wasted and cause a bunch of car wrecks driving home from the local bar or Pub! I was driving home from work and the drunk sustained no damage or injuries as usual.
Green wearing drunk punk...dear Lord forgive me for lashing out like this and being a bad example but he had no insurance!
