This isn't a restaurant, its a street corner franchise with numerous location serving smokies and hot dogs. They aren't bad, and I've frequently grabbed one on the way to a football game, or between stops on a pub crawl. Decent smokies, high quality mustards, and a good selection of dressings.

This is, without question, Vancouver's greatest contribution to film. Forget that Hollywood North crap, where the city pretends to be Seattle or New York or LA so Hollywood schlockmeisters can take advantage of the currency exchange rate and lower labor costs.

This is film at its finest. For several decades, Pacific Cinematheque has been running seasons of classic, avante garde, disturbing, challenging, surreal, artistic, savage, propaganda, left wing, right wing, and anything else they felt like film. One of my most prized possessions is a membership here.

The Commodore is ancient by Vancouver standards, dating back to 1929. It features a huge sprung hardwood dancefloor underlaid with horsehide, and has a capacity of about a thousand. A great venue that books solid acts, (now under the House of Blues marquee) it is easily my favorite nightspot in the city.

This place has sadly declined in the last few years. Once a home of great food, excellent service and flawless tappanyaki chef entertainment, its quality is not what it was. Service is now no better than mediocre, and the food, while good, is no longer great. The bar is ok, provide the servers decide to visit you more than once and the ambiance is pleasant, even intriguing. All said, however, there are better places to eat for this kind of money in the city.

White Spot is a chain of restaurants with several outlets in Greater Vancouver, and a bunch more throughout the province and in Alberta. Its a family oriented chain with a reasonably good menu, a decent bar and a lousy wine list. Their burgers are excellent, as are their fries and some of their pasta dishes. Service is about average and ambiance is more elegant than normal in a restaurant of this type.
