I got my puggle a little over a year ago. He's become my best bud. I'd buy another pug/beagle mix in a second. He's not perfect, but here's the good and the bad. The bad: -He chews on anything and everything. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a puppy that doesn't do chew and he's definitely getting better. -He's stubborn. When he wants attention, he wants it NOW! and will scratch and dig at the carpet and sofa just to get our attention. I haven't quite found the perfect solution to this problem. Ignoring him would probably be best--but at the price of a ruined couch and ripped up carpet! -I'm not sure this really falls into the bad category, but he's not the smartest dog I've ever been around. However, it's kind of endearing. -He sheds. I knew this, of course, going in. However, I'd always had non-shedding dogs growing up and didn't realize quite how big a pain it is. We finally bought a very expensive vaccuum designed for pet hair and that's helped a lot. But it'... Read more

I like Puggles themselves. They're mixed breed dogs, so they vary from one individual to the next, but they tend to have sweet temperaments and are always adorable. It's the breeders I don't like. Puggles and other designer dogs go in and out of style so fast, and when they're trendy, some less responsible people take advantage of it and breed dozens of Puggles so fast it'll make your head spin. And if the pups sell, great. If they don't, guess where they end up? Yep. Animal shelters. My local animal shelter was flooded with Puggle pups and adults this time last year. Good Puggle breeders exist, but are pretty rare. A good breeder won't just jump into a breeding program. They plan it out carefully and responsibly. They are very interested and dedicated in their breed. There just aren't that many people dedicated to Puggles, sadly. Puggles: 6 stars Irresponsible Puggle breeders: 0 stars.

These breeds are very excitable and need regular excersize to keep their energy level down to a low roar. Additionally, because they are very independent, obedience training may not work to control their behavior. Nice family friendly dog, but they like to dig and sometimes wonder off. They are also prone to dysplasia and sometimes suffer from epiliectic sezures. Before you buy one, be sure to investigate the health history of the parents.

extremly cute, not agressive, sweet, playful, don't seem to have the health issues of a Pug. But very very hyperactive, strubron and not easy to train. kinda destructive for first year or two, floppy eary but not as long as beagle, hunt and sniff, and howl like beagle, broad butterball chest, wrinkles, and big eyes like pug, their tail is longer than pug but still has that cork screw effect. With some work with a doggie trainer you will have a great pet. Requires a lot of attention... just have to be patient like with a toddler with ADD for a few years

I just don't understand why you would take a working breed (the Beagle) and cross it up with a foo-foo lap dog.  Now, I do like Pugs.  For what they are worth, they are cute.  But talk about health problems!  Who came up with the idea to breed a Beagle; which is a very athletic, seemingly intelligent, driven dog; to a nasty breathing, pet-lap dog?  I don' t get it.  And people pay $100's for this mess-up.  I don't mean to make anyone upset; if you have a Puggle and love it that's fine, but I just don't understand.

I love pugs... but not puggles. Why take 2 adorable breeds of dogs and morph them into an ugly, barking breed?

there are no such things as designer breeds. there are overpriced mutts, which is exactly what we have here. getting a mixed breed dog is awesome, they tend to be healthier than purebreds. but please, don't bore me with your puggle, whoodle, etc. jargon. you have a mutt. that you probably paid too much for. grrrrrr....... i'm sure they're great lil dogs though!

I've never actually heard of a puggle, but i'm not a huge fan of pugs. That being said, beagles are great dogs... I'm torn.

Designer breeds are the rage right now but Im not that impressed with these dogs. I like the two breeds individually, but taking two rather hard headed breeds based on "cuteness" and mixing them makes for some very frustrated first time dog owners.
