Fred Flintstone was based on Ralph Kramden- even looking a little like him, complete with a Brooklyn accent. He worked hard to try to get ahead and always had some kind of get-rich-quick scheme (hit-songwriting, running a restaurant, a maintenance consultant at an apartment and a race-car driver). He was not much of an inventor (he manages to make Barney disappear, he glues himself and Barney to a bowling ball and shrinks himself and makes up new dances when he hurts himself). He rarely hid his exasperation and Wilma had to often show him the folly of his ways. Many years later, man has yet to learn!

A parrody of Jackie Gleason's "Ralph Kramdon" of the Honeymooners. I miss the Flintstones. The new cartoons these days suck.

I think I'm too young to get the flintstones. More of a Simpsons girl, myself. I love dinosaurs though.

eehhh..ok once in a while, didn't care for the stereotypes even as a kid. Fred was just Archie Bunker in a flat dimension.

The cartoon version of the everyday working man. The Flintstones were not just a cartoon that entertained kids but adults as well because they could relate to Fred, Wilma, Barney, and Betty.

Maybe a rip-off of Ralph Kramden but a great character. Strong family man for a cartoon. Great everyman character as well.

I grew up with the Flinstones and thus reminds me of happy childhood memories. Actually, I wasn't a fan of Fred so much as Wilma (the brains of the lot)

There was not enough originality with Fred Flintstone. Fred was merely loud and bumbling, yet with a kind heart, nothing new there. The entire series was an acknowledged ripoff of television's The Honeymooners.

The cartoon version of Ralph Kramden but in a toned down way. Still you couldn't help but love Fred Flintstone

Fred Flintstone, Bedrocks very own Homer Simpson. You couldn't help but like ol blundering Fred because no matter how much he screwed up you always knew he meant well.
