In this day in age, communications are extremely important, and television (even with its problems) is one of the beneficial tools contributing to this. Yes, and I still sometimes love good entertainment, even if it is mostly reruns! Of course, this generation as a whole has been spoiled by "the tube", so with some exceptions, viewers will be trying anything and everything to continue to get their programming. But, as was pointed out by DynaSword (who is not here anymore), there are other ways to get news. And heck, TV programming can even be watched over the Internet. Nevertheless, it probably wouldn't hurt if everyone would learn that, digital or not, TVs are still made with an "off" button....

I don't watch much as it is but there are a few shows I like to watch and I don't want to wait for it on dvd to watch them.

I gave up around 10 years ago. If anything looks good, I'll rent it...commercial-free...No more Talking Heads...No more anestithizing reruns, game shows, "Reality" TV and NO. MORE. COMMERCIALS. This switch to digital will have zero effect on my life.
No dilemma here...
