One of the best reviewers RIA ever had. Sadly, he passed away about 3 years ago.

Why the hell not? He's no intellectual lightweight, he has an interest in a variety of topics and seems like an interesting guy to get to know. If I ever find myself in the greater Vancouver area I'll know where to go. ...We'll just have to make sure to keep the topic off cats.

No way. I am sorry, irishgit, but not really. I don't make friends with shit starters. I was wondering if this worthless f*ker has any REAL friends, that why he likes to instigate people he doesn't know. I have a feeling this douche was bullied in real life. Poor f*ker. I feel sorry for him, the internet bully.

I was reading some reviews of me and git's stood out the most. I just want to say this: You said you didn't care for a 13 yr. old's opinion as far as politics goes. That is fine with me, but, does it really matter how old the person is if they are giving a good, solid political opinion. Because if you think about it, in a few years, I'll be voting for the president and stuff like that. A 13 year old can give just as good of an opinion about politics as anyone else can. They can sometimes even give a better one than an adult can. Just wanted to give my opinion on this. Update: I'm changing the rating, mabye I took it a little too personal.

Seems to be ill-tempered and intolerant of other reviewers. ( and I know he won't care that I post that) but he is smart and writes good reviews.

irishgit is a great reviewer. Chances are if you've reviewed something, he's right there reviewing it.

UPDATE: Irish continues to justify my high opinion of him. His latest reviews of 2008 Oscar nominees are admirable and must-reading for film buffs. He definitely knows movie craft. Irish is a guy I'd like to meet in person sometime, next time he gets to San Francisco/Silicon Valley, and hoist a few with. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Irish is in the top echelon of my list of favorite reviewers. He has an amazing ability to get to the heart of an issue in a couple of sentences, which is uncommon (especially for me) and is an ability I envy. It takes a high intelligence to be able to do that. He's often witty and humorous, speaks his mind clearly without any b.s., occasionally acerbic (I note some reviewers are offended by that; that's their problem, not his), doesn't suffer fools gladly. Broad knowledge of many subjects, and almost always interesting and worth a read. I appreciate his insider viewpoints on political matters. I usually agree with his reviews. I'd like to see him write a more detail... Read more

You are the only one that would talk to me when I first joined a week ago. I read your reviews and a lot of them are in mans language but I can't blame you for that. I am sorry you took a break because you became number one. But you should see it is probably because everyone thought you were the best. That's what I think. Maybe who ever that dude was honestly believed that you were the better guy for the spot. Although I do not know the politics of this site yet.

I still don't understand the dust-up going on here. But I have enjoyed immensely reading irishgit's reviews. I can understand why he is number 1. It is because he deserves it. He's earned it. I believe this takes a lot of hard work. Sometimes, even today, ignorance is bliss. I take reviews and votes at face value and try to give them also. I am no pacifist but I lke to know more about the battle before jumping in. In closing I might add that irish's reviews are, as I've said before, witty, ascerbic, and well-thought-out. He is one of my favorites here among many.

Another natural wit, Irish can be very humorous but never in a clownish, low brow way.  It’s always enjoyable to read his clever and varied observations.

Not only one of the smartest reviewers here, but behind every irishgit sardonic sense of humor and rapier witticism is experience to back up everything he says. And literally every review he makes gets better when you read it a second time. A humorous and timely read, indeed.

Is there anything the Irish is not adept at - and will he not in the process make us aware of what's what and what isn't? Would so characterize him as 'endearingly funny' but might incur his wrath, so I won't.

Funny. Smart. Plus he doesn't kiss anyone's ass around here.  Has that kind of writing style that makes be think that if you were creating a roundtable in a group or business from scratch you would have to have this guy there.  Acid test- "Do I want this person working for my competition or against me?"

A very funny guy with an edge. The 'git is a pro and has that combination of life experience and honed techniques such as wisecracks,  parodies, straight jokes, irony, banter, caricature, ancedotes. asides, blue humor, the blunder, burlesque (especially with the Grizz crowd), the catch tale, exaggerism, the Freudian Slip, hyperboles, the recovery, repartee, satire, wisecracks and understatements. With this arsenal, he'd be tough to beat in a bitch-slapping contest...

Irishgit is the master of sardonic, wry and cynical humor.  I think his past political experience and his mastery of the english language gives him an insight and understanding of humor that most of us sometimes don't get. Sometimes that pisses people off. I think that is a source of pleasure for my friend. Nobody does it better.

He deals in humour of such class, that a one-liner merchant like myself couldn't possibly understand... but he's not afraid to lower himself when he has to, and he does so with devastating effect. Expect many aching ribs when he's around.

I mean, even if he had absolutely no sense of humor, he'd still rank near the top just by extension of being  called a college boy by what appears to be a tenth grade grizz user- this is real by the way- who then offered to fight him.

Though I can't figure out how he manages to equate my reviews with those of  rabid wingnuts like Convinced or Louie, flakes like Lmorovan, or an angry idealogue like Moose, I still enjoy his witty shredding of sacred cows.

I'm always amazed by his reviews. He's extremely prolific, but there's never a throw-away in any of what he writes, and his humor is constantly hilarious. Sometimes I find myself tempted to make a funny quip of my own, like some incipient Lenny Bruce, and then I read what Irishgit has already said on the same subject, generally laugh out loud, and say to myself, "What's the point? I better move on to something else. Where's the listing for NY eateries where gangsters have been shot?" Even when he's funny, there's always a cogent, on-target point to what he's saying. Whether funny or serious, he's never been nasty or abusive to anyone on here that I've ever seen, but doesn't suffer fools gladly. Not gladly at all. A word of warning to those tempted to "play the fool".

Even though I seldom agree with irishgit I think for the most part he does a excellent job with his reviews. He is intelligent and forthright. He is not shy with his opinion and by all rights should not be. Irish you have earned your place with RIA and I wish you the best.  God bless!

Stopped even reading his reviews... boring....offensive...heartless... But then, I could lie and tell that which he might want to hear,... nah, I don't have to live with him, I have to live with me. Update: I apologize for my review of this member. Will take it off upon request, but in the meanwhile, it will be a monument to my lack of humanity. I am sorry.

The first post I read on RIA was by irishgit. Don't recall what the review was about, but I remember thinking that any site with a regular as smart as that would be worth sticking with. So I can blame him for getting me hooked. To me, irishgit is one who treads his own path, a bit of a solitary individual, in the best way. Maybe it's the terseness that contributes to that image I have of him: the guy's a true mensch. He doesn't really care what you think of him, and doesn't go fishing for compliments or even for helpful votes. I will disagree with him every so often, but he's earned my eternal respect.

HE IMPLIED THAT I HAVE SEX WITH BLOW UP DOLLS! However that's his right as a American citizen. I deducted 3 stars because he's a red sox fan. Then I read his Kid Rock review and I added 1 extra star. I agree, Kid Rock is terrible! He seems to be a good all American guy even though he implied that I screwed inflatable dolls. That was kind of funny though.

Well, I'm Irish as well and a sailor to boot so the beer would flow like bitter honey that evening. As a Canadian I'd have to give myself the edge as our beer tends to be somewhat stronger than the U.S. variety. I get the sense that when the slippers started to fly (an inevitability when drinking in Boston) - git would be right in there cracking skulls.

It seems he has the kind of nature that wants to get under your skin if he strongly disagrees with you. He also has a sharp toungue that can be coarse or funny, but what I notice most of all is that this is a well written and very infomed guy. The kind that wants to be sure he knows the facts when laying down his opnioin, not like myself. I tend to speak from personal experience and my own heart, which is more likely to be questionable I admit. If you've got a beef with this guy you better do your homework and have all your ducks in a row or you might just be intelligently shot down.

Although irishgit and I may not see eye to eye (okay that may be the understatement of the year) I have quite a bit of respect for his opinions. He also makes me laugh which is always a plus. Perhaps my favorite thing about his comments are that they are always concise and to the point and not overly long. He doesn't repeat himself over and over again which sometimes seems to be a problem on this site. Overall a very solid and witty reviewer.

Seems like a good bloke. I have read some of his comments (not all, because I simply don't have the time to do a microscopic analysis) and they seem very fair to me. He has made some fairly good lists and he should keep up the good work. He is a good person to have on RIA. I don't think anyone in the near future will match him on all the helpfuls he has. He must be doing something right to be in top position!

Despite the fact of things in the past, I'm going to (finally) update my comment and say that I admire Irishgit for his ability to put humour and sarcasm together. He's witty and almost charming when he wants to be. I like him as a reviewer, and respect him greatly.
