A friend of mine had one of these back in the nineties which he let me drive a time or two. Agile, fun little car.

A practical way to enjoy the driving experience associated with British sports cars of the '50s and '60s without bankrupting you or leaving an oil patch on your driveway. Minus one star for the fact that the Miata is (unreasonably) considered a "chick's car" by the hoi poloi.

Quick, nimble and nice form with excellent craftsmanship. Had a 99 convertible, which was rock solid. Nice tranny, engine that loved to be hit hard and great suspension with very little body flex for a ragtop. Tires were a main concern, since the wrong type would cause the rear to slip out, especially on slick roads. I think the original rubber was Toyo on mine, but I soon switch to Pirelli's. Problem solved. Interior was well thought out and appointed with a Bose sound system and leather interior. Quality was superb, as was the short-throw stick. Only other gripe I had was the horsepower. Could have used a 20 more or so. Trunk space was suprisingly adequate for a car of this type. Nice car to play with. I give serious thought to purchasing another...

After coming from a lineage of Toyota ownership I was relieved to finally buy my first Miata. A 95' Mint condition miata with low miles--how perfect! Since owning this vehicle I have never had a mechanical problem and it handles corners amazingly! I never thought owning a Miata could be so much fun. The cars handling is excellent and the ride alone is like something in a cartoon-quick and fun. While this car is a lot of fun, it is horrible at high speeds on the freeway! The size of other cars compared to Miata is ridiculously scary! Despite the feeling of being in a toy car it is great for windy roads, deserted roads and sunny weather--the perfect weekend getaway car. A wet or snowy place is not the place for Miata, seeing they hate rain and it will be hard to see out of your windows, not to mention mold will start growing on the soft tops. Also, you will want to equip your Miata with a security system with ignition kill and sensory, since these cars are a medal for theieves looking fo... Read more

I love my baby. She might not be the best in the snow, but she was never meant to a be a winter vehicle. There's nothing like driving down the highway on a summer day with the top down, some good music playing, and the sun shining down. My Miata takes corners like nobody's business - the key is in the tires. The car is extremely customizable, especially if you get involved with a local club. These machines are also known to be VERY reliable. A couple of Miata owners I know have driven their vehicles over 300K miles with no major problems to speak of, and their cars are still going strong.

The MX-5 Miata is an excellent small sportscar and one of the best bangs-for-the-buck you car going to find regarding sportscars. If you can fit in the small tight cabin, you will be in for a treat regarding handling and road feel. If you are long of leg or generally of large size, you will either find the little two seater a bit snug or simply too small to be comfortable, especially for runs over a half-hour or so. But, if you fit the car is easy to like. Not really an econo-box, the car can make 30 MPG on the highway. It don't have a lot of room, in the cabin or in the trunk but it has enough baggage space for one and even two if you travel light. There have been three versions of the MX-5/Miata to date, with the newest just coming on-line as I read this. All have essentially the same strengths and complaints and even though the newest is apparently slightly larger, from intitial reports, it probably still isn't going to be a car for a really 'big guy'. Is the MX-5/Miata a ... Read more

This is a nice car, but it looks too much like any other sports car I've seen.

I have a 90, and nothing can beat a sunny summer day with the top off, and lots of curves! Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I've got a 97. It's a roadster for sure. I just wish I didn't need a kidney belt. Got to work on that ride. Fun as a local car.

Achieves its goals, fun to drive, great handling, enjoyable to its limits. Does not try to be a supercar, just a superfun car. There's more to sports cars than 0-100.

Hey, I can't believe you guys have ever driven any of these cars ... After seven years I still love my Miata. Handles great, enough power and just plain fun. Oh, yes, it is also something one can really afford. If the category were "real-life sports cars" this would have to be top-rated.
