Tanks that should not have been given to the general public. Gas guzzlers that do nothing to help this economy and too big for the road. Most ticketed car last year because the drivers claimed they could not see pedestrians crossing the street, smaller cars in the road, and signs on the street and highway. Waste of money and space.

I think it looks kind of cool, like a giant life-sized version of a Lego car. I would love to drive one and be above everyone else. However, considering the environmental milieu, I would have to be either 1. completely stupid/innocent/living under a rock or 2. over-riding any inkling towards social responsibility and consciousness. No matter how much you want one, you just don't drive one of these around unless you want to tell yourself and the whole world that you JUST DON'T CARE.

Yuppie women drive these vehicles around where I live. Us men are all sure to give them all the room they need on the road.

Personally, if I were to get a Hummer, I'd like it to be from a skilled and enthusiastic woman.

I'd love to take one out in the desert...That's where all hummers should stay. I couldn't believe these things could be street-legal...Turns out there not allowed everywhere with their light curb weight over 6000 lbs...Their drivers also get 3 - 4 times more tickets than anybody else! Be careful with these guys cause they feel so high up there that they think they're above the law.

I've never driven one or even rode in one (sat in one at an auto show when they first came out) but like a lot of high end SUV's I've almost never seen one that is dirty and rarely see them anywhere but in the suburbs and the main highways. I do a fair bit of back country hiking and camping and I've yet to see an Escalade or a Hummer parked by a lake at the end of a long rugged road. Those spots still seem to bbe the domain of pick-up trucks and rusty old Civics.

What a freak show of a vehicle. While other big SUVs are also gas-guzzling monsters, at least they have the advantage of being pretty to look at. I like being far off the ground, but with a car as ugly and queer as an H2, it doesn't seem worth it.

I own an H2. But a long time ago I learned that hopefully some people on the planet would have bigger concerns on their mind than how much my car cost, how much I pay to fill up the tank or how it looks. May be that's just me...

H1s rocked. You can do anything in that car. They are the real kick but military breed car. H2s are the most pointless cars ever to be put on the road. You can't go off roading in them because they'll break and for what you pay there is a heck of a lot of plastic in it. They don't even look cool. They say, Hey, I'm insecure and need to over compensate for my lack of personality. Yeah, not the message you want your car to send.

A four to the H1 for being a bad-ass SUV. Only reason it doesn't rate a 5 is the width of the vehicle. The H2 is a platicized, underperforming relative that only rates a 2. Spend less for an H1 and get a Hummer with some nut!

I have only respect for the H1's. In the right hands, they are some of the best 4x4's on the trails. They are a little wide for where I go but I still respect their capability. As far as H2's, they are the bling-bling SUV's I have come to hate.

I own a 1995 Hummer H1 and live in northern Manitoba ,Canada. For the long winters here you can't beat a Hummer. They dont slide through intersections when its icy and I have never felt safer driving down an icy highway. My Hummer is a diesel and costs less to drive then alot of my other friends suvs. I am not rich and paid about the same price for my used Hummer as someone would for a new truck. The nice thing is that I never paid the initial depreciation like you would with a new truck. If I decide to sell my Hummer I could probably get back all my money. Try that with an ordinary suv! I think that if someone has never driven or owned something then maybe they shouldnt review it. Say what you will about a Hummer, but when my friends go off-roading they alway's ask me to come along, so that I can pull them out. Besides that, who wants to drive the same vehicle as everyone else on the block?

These are without a doubt just about the ugliest things to ever be put on the road. There's no need for a personal vehicle to be that big and gauky. The only reason a man would buy one is because he's got a very small penis and he's trying to make up for it. The only reason a woman would buy one is because she's striving for a higher social status.

If you drive suv's, especially a Hummer, you support terrorism. Oil comes from countries that are enemies to the U.S.,by purchasing a gas guzzling vehicle you keep the U.S. dependant on foreign countries resources. You may think it is the all American vehicle but the fact is is that Saudis are responsible for 9/11 and they couldn't have done it without money provided by you. I also agree with the mid-life crisis small penis theories. Look at me, look at me I'm a sheep in wolves clothing.

I looked up in my rear view mirror the other day and what did I see? One of these behind me. I have to be perfectly honest and say this is by far one of the worse looking cars I’ve ever seen. I think however, it’s design isn’t meant to appeal to the eye (or I hope not) but rather to project that it’s a sturdy work horse. I would hate to have the gas mileage or lack of it. With a 2003 model 4 door wagon going for around $114, 000 and the open top going for around $100,000 it seems to me to be an expensive truck. To me, this is one of those cars that belong in the bush or dessert where it was designed to be. There are pluses to owning one of these cars however, one is you’ll never have to worry about going to visit anyone for the first time unless they live in a town with small parking spaces. And while the hummer can accelerate around 0 - 60 in a little over 18 seconds, it’s top speed is 83 which may be too low for some. I'm giving it a three star however, because of the fact i... Okay, let me set the record straight on Hummer. THERE IS NO LONGER SUCH THING AS HUMMER. Let me explain. The Hummer started out as a company, selling huge wagons to the army in replace of Jeeps. Soon after, General Motors bought Hummer. The Company is now named AM General. AM General has two vehicles in its lineup- the H1 and the H2. The H1 is available as a wagon version and a truck version. The picture on this webpage is an H1. AM General also has the H2, which is based on the Suburban and the H1. I wish people would learn what has happened. The vehicle that we all called Hummer is no longer called Hummer, its called H1. This means the company (AM General) has two vehicles available, the H1 and the H2. The H2 is more civilized and offers a 3rd row seat. Overall, the word "H1" has replaced the word "Hummer" when talking about one of these vehicles, since the company now produces more than one type of vehicle. Hummer is a very often confused thing that is really no longer in existince.

This is without a doubt THE most butt-ugly car ever created. I saw one coming down the street a few days ago and wondered how the person driving could take himself seriously. Aesthetically and visually offensive - best purchased by those who enjoy the ambiance of a gas station - since you'll be spending a lot of time there.

Hey, it's your money. I just can't see spending that much on a car. I understand some people get off on the attention, but I'd rather have a normal vehicle and live more simply. Suburban guilt? Maybe, but I don't think I could look myself in the mirror knowing I had spent that much on a car when so many have so little.

This is a free country and people can drive whatever they want but, What a stupid vehicle!!! A perfect metaphor for this country's lack of common sense with cars. The only person who appeared justified in having one on this site was the woman who lives in the Canadian wilderness. For everyone else who lives in paved civilization, get real. SUV's have proven high roll-over rates, cause more serious injury to victims in smaller cars (risk of decapitation goes up when SUV's are involved) and of course have horrendous gas mileage. They hog up the road, are a pain to park and nobody can see around them. There is no jealousy involved whatsoever in my extreme dislike of SUV's, I just happen to like using common sense when choosing a vehicle and not try to flaunt my "wealth" or whatever you want to call it. SUV"s are the worst invention to come around since the parking meter and I'm not in a tiny minority with my opinion either.

I owned a 92 Wagon and now own a 98 Soft top. Hummers are one of the most expensive vehicles to keep running. You are buying a can of worms when you get one but it stil draws more positive atention then any exotic on the road. I love the truck I just wish they weren't so prone to breaking down. The Military says the average Humvee costs $8,000 worth of maintainence a year. I dont doubt that a bit. The Engine is prone to die on you and if you dont have the HVAC upgrade that is willing to go and the driveline components cost alot of money. Anyhow I own one because I like the attention and love to show off and personally dont think there is a better truck for it. Just know that you are going to spend alot of money keeping one of these htings on the road.

I have driven only the military version of the hummer. It has a purpose, just like anything else. Does anyone know how the military purchases there Hummers, trucks etc. Its called "Lowest Bidder". I can personally atest that the military version is uncomfortable to drive for long distances (like convoys), it leaks (water comes in when it rains or when it is being washed), it runs very hot without the heater on (due to the transmission being between the two front seats) Oh yes I want to drive that across the scorching desert!! Not!! I would much rather drive some off the shelf SUV/4x4 with AC than the hummer. Way over priced for what it is.

I would really like bad reviews, because I don't want to have to keep bringing it to the shop for repairs. I will be using it to pull boats 200-250 mile round trip. I live in Louisiana. Any comments would be great. Thanks!

one would suposse that our ever consuming and increasingly "running out of time" culture would need a tanklike vehicle that was a block long and just as wide.....still, i dont see the point. If you want to drive a Hummer go and join one of the military outfits we have--i'm sure them and the Bush administration would take you with a huge blood thirsty smile right about now. but for street driving no one needs these machines.

I agree that this type of vehicle is just for guys who have small penises. I'm a woman and this type of vehicle isn't gonna get me. A ferrari will though. :) The women who have them are probably just dikes. Also, this vehicle is not really a go anywhere vehicle. Why? Because it's humongous! It gets stuck in tight areas when off-roading.
