I had the Cingular version back in 2002 when I had a good job, and it worked great. I gave it only 4 stars now because my battery wasn't very good and it needed charging constantly. However, the Cingular service was vastly improved from the nokia 5165.

I have the Motorola StarTac 7868, which I was told is the best of the StarTacs and why I got that particular model, and what it doesn't have in all the latest whistles and bells, it more than makes up for in reception. For anyone familiar with I-40 through TN/NC, this phone will go almost clear through the gorge without cutting out. Some posters have complained about no caller id, my model does have caller id. It does not have a volume off functions, another thing some posters have disliked, but I can set it to vibrate, so it makes a whirring noise but not an actual ring. Unfortunately, Motorola has discontinued the StarTac. I purchased mine off e-bay, and initially it would not hold a charge; I put a replacement battery in it, and it's been holding a charge fabulously now.

By far,one of the best phones ever made. Easy to use and compact design. Rather delicate but no matter.

It has the poorest reception of any cell phone that I have ever owned. It is a phone thqatq I would give to my grandma, someone who doesn't use a phone much.

These phones have no battery life and make them virtually unuseable. I bought 2 of them and will NEVER purchase another one.

I cannot get this phone to stay cnnected for over 2-3 minutes. I used to blame it on the service (Verizon), but my wife uses a Nokia and the same service and does not have a similar problem. This is my third StarTac. I love the size, convenience, design, etc., but it is just not dependable. Is anyone else having this problem?

I like this phone- it's very compact, very handy. The only bad thing is that it is easy to lose.

Although these phones are sleek, you have to sacrifice battery life and user friendliness. The smaller the phone, the less battery life and the buttons are harder to press. The buttons are almost at the same level as the phone surface, so if you have average size fingers you end up pressing two buttons at once.

I had this phone before my Audiovox. It's a pretty good phone also. It was a little staticky at times, but it was OK. Small was good!

This product, though very small, has a major wear and tear issue. If you are a power user then you might have to deal with a broken encasing since constant opening and closing of the flip mechanisim causes extra stress on the plastic. Its reception is not as good as other mobile phones since it has a relatively weak antenna. You can get a PCS model, but is not recommendable for power users. OEM equipment is expensive as well.

Very good phone, either digital or analog. Has good distance and is very versatile. Only problem is, this is a very easy phone to crack.

Easy to use and convenient. Not very large, but light weight and no extra bells and whistles that you'll never use.

I have this particular phone and it's great. Calls are clear and not staticky. I love the caller ID on it. I like Motorola. Everyone in my family has StarTAC.

This is rated a five for stability. Compact, reliable and very easy to conceal. Not to mention how clear it is. Very good.

I feel the format and functions they use in this phone are very complicated for the normal consumer. It's very hard to easily get to the functions you need to get to. Plus, they have a problem with their LCD screen constantly going out and the phone easily falls apart.

I have a Startac phone myself. It offers a variety of functions like, pager, voicemail, and ringing styles. The phone is very clear, and has good reception all over the place.

I couldn't hold a charge and I would plug it in day and night. I still never could call out. It would disconnect me in the middle of calls!

They are cute phones. Small and convenient. Antenna breaks easily. Battery time sucks, only one hour of talk time with stock battery.

This phone I have felt to be useful especially with storing phone numbers. The only bad part is how quickly it seems to go through the battery without an extra one.

Good reception and voice quality. Small and light enough to be a wearable digital product. Nice finish and big display. Small battery has pretty impressive talk/standby time.

My mom adn dad each have one of these phones and I have used them on many occasions. The phones are too light weight and the structure makes it very easy to break, not durable at all, especially the antenna. Also, quality is poor after it is dropped several times.

Nice and compact. Lots of features. Stylish enough to flash and small enough to keep in a pocket. Quite durable too. My friend has dropped his many times and it still works like new.

I had this phone for a year. It was small and convenient, but once the flimsy, vulnerable antena broke it dropped to many calls.

The StarTAC is a good phone. I love the flip action, and it's the perfect size. The thing wrong is its battery life. The bloody thing is usually dead by the end of the day.

This phone works decently, but if it ever drops and hits the floor it's over for the phone. It's not durable at all, and the battery life is too short compared to Nokia phones.

This phone is nice looking and is very clear but the problem with this phone is that the battery dies out really quick. I have one, and it's a good phone.

I have the StarTAC Web 7797. It's a great phone because it's very small, is a flip (so you don't scratch the screen), and the screen is indiglo blue for easy viewing at night. You can also go on the web (text only) and receive e-mails. Holds up to 396 phone numbers distributed to 99 stored names.

This was my favorite phone until it fell apart on me. It was very small, lightweight and the battery would last for many hours. But then my antenna broke off and my battery wouldn't charge anymore. The same thing happened to a few of my friends also.

Good thing about the phone is that it is small and easy to carry around. Bad thing is that it is difficult to use compared to Nokia. Many of my friends had it broken.

Motorola StarTAC is a small portable phone that fits nicely into a coat pocket. The phone can be purchased in either an analog or digital version. Functions are code driven (ie press function and 5 button to check battery) instead of scrolling through a menu. Physical battery size for the StarTAC is small so there is a maximum of two days of use. However, for an added expense extra battery packs can be purchased to increase battery life up to 7 days.

I like how it was small, but the battery life was too short and it seemed like it would break too easily.

Light phone, great small size, looks good in plain black. Options are easy to manuever, no manual needed to operate. Only negative comment is network selection is limited.

I've been happy with my startac -- good battery life, very light and compact, nice ring features, etc. etc., but with one reservation-- it "runs hot." Long conversations tend to your ear (the whole side of your head, in fact) feeling like overcooked broccoli.

The phone is small, but that's not all that matters in a phone. It's not really aesthetically pleasing. It's rather flimsy, and the antenna broke very easily. A sturdier version would be better.

The StarTac is the phone of the future. This phone features a display which you can attach to your car and talk while you drive. I think this will decrease the amount of accidents because the driver will be more attentive on the road because he/she won't have to hold a phone.

Compact size with an okay sound quality. The reception while roaming isn't very good. The battery life could be better.
