Why pick up a suspected criminal while he's out for his daily jog when you can firebomb a compound and kill and maim the folks you claim are his "victims" ???

Now here is a real loser. They broke her wind on the Waco deal and she never recovered. I wonder what she had on Clinton for him to keep her around to the end? I think Rosie O'Donnell campaigned for her on Reno's last campaign.

Well, at least she was consistent in her decisions and policies - although I believe that all of them were wrong. Waco seems to have been botched from the get-go, at all levels, and the Elian Gonzalez case was ann exercise in liberal hypocrisy. First, let the Florida court decide what to do with Elian, and then when it didn't suit the administration, Reno and the DOJ step in to make this a federal matter. Lets' not even talk about sending in a SWAT team to rescue Elian from his relatives (who had been cooperative with the authorities from the beginning). What a farce!

A liar and a despot. Blew Waco and Elian and every other intiative she led. Highly overrated. A left wing lawyer who is just not that talented. The worst Attorney General in our history.

I can't say for certain whether or not she was a good Atty Genl, but I can state this: She is a very honest woman who is willing to take responsibility for her decisions. Compare her honor taking blame for Waco, to Slick Willie's weasle-wording(eg, it depends what your definition of is is). Both Bill and Hillary could learn from her integrity.

Janet Reno was an atrocious Attorney General. She didn't do anything of real consequence on the job. I believe that got too much fire concerning the Waco incident though. She didn't realize that it would have turned out that way. Still, she should have known that 1. there were women and children in that building, some who were being held hostage against their own will and 2. that David Koresh had a huge arsenal in there that he indicated he would use if he had to. Reno used way too much force in breaking into the Waco compound. More than likely, it would have all turned out fine if she hadn't resorted to such tactics. Same thing with the Elian case. This women is a brute! To top it off she was a political hack as well. Reno refused to investigate the Clinton-Gore 1996 campaign funding irregularity primarily because her job was on the line. Clinton told her explicitly that she would be fired if she let the investigation go on. She was one of Bubba's best enablers, one of the many actual... Read more

Looking back at her track record as Attorney General (Waco, departure of Elian, obstruction of justice in the campaign finance investigation, etc.), there is no way this woman has the right requirements to be govenor of Florida. She will most likely go down as the worst attorney general history due to her mishandlings in almost every situation she put her hands in.

Probably one of the most incompetent politicians in U.S. history. Made her name in Dade County prosecuting child molesters she knew to be innocent. Extended her moral and ethical pre-eminence by ordering the slaughter of women and children at Waco while refusing to investigate the blatant violations of the 1996 Clinton-Gore Campaign. All in all, a very tragic figure and a tragedy for this country. How much more do we have to endure in the name of feminism? In other words, compentent women are ok but don't force liars and murderers upon us because they pass a gender test. And, speaking of a gender test? Fuhgeddabutit.

What planet are we on that we would consider this woman governor for anything? She thinks she can alienate every hispanic in the state of Florida by sending a child to live under a communust dictatorship and then expect to be elected in that very state? Maybe Jeb isnt all he is cracked up to be...but Reno sure isnt the one to replace him.

Miss Reno is a strong and independent politican! She can't be bought (like republican's) she won't back down to cuban-american's (who think they have their own nation and not in the Nation-America, and all other groups who want the Law bent in their direction. Reno will bring Florida back to a respectable State again and help clean the "stink" the Bush's left behind.

Janet Reno has proven to be a person capable of handling a job through enforcing the Law and standing strong against the propaganda of the GOP and it's rightwing affiliates during the Clinton Administration. She did NOT enable bush jr to win FL, FL was bought and paid for by his bro jeb and GOP southern cronies. IF jeb was not Gov of FL this Country would not have the puppet-boy in the white house today! Go Janet Reno!

Wile Janet Reno's unspeakable handling of the Elian Gonzales case has earned her, on top of her other shortcomings, the spite and hatred of the whole Cuban American community and of many decent other Americans, we must never forget how grateful we can be to her for being the One person who managed to have G.W Bush elected President. That the election boiled down to two counties of Florida, with a million Cuban votes and only 547 decisive votes (or 2 per 1000 of that electorate) can be regarded as an Act of God or Immediate Retribution. That will not bring the little boy back, but it does give a meaning to his plight. Thank you Janet !!!

People- what's with the hype over Janet Reno running for Governor and being constantly attacked over Elián González, and Waco? Can this beautiful State (Country) with its beautiful people- stop falling for all of the political-spin and get down to facts. Learn to read, and think for yourselves- instead of falling for the B.S., of planted rumors, divide-and-conquer politics of the Republican Party. Janet Reno has paid-her-dues, unlike the wealthy Bush family who have it all handed to them. She fought every inch of the way. She was hounded and humiliated by everyone around her (including the President) but stayed focused and "just did her job" followed the Law of the Land-was brave. She didn't give in to special interest groups or play the "politics-as-usual" (you scratch my back I'll scratch yours) game. SHE DID HER JOB. Forget the GOP, Right Wing Religious Groups, Big "money" industries, hate-groups and propaganda spread on the internet, newspapers, right-wing churches etc., etc.... Read more

Janet Reno, you go Girl! I think people hate her because she has "BALLS" and she does the right thing. She's not controlled by men. If she was my Momma, I'd be so proud of her, and I still proud of her, even though she's not. I hope she runs for the Governorship of Florida and whips Jed (G. Dubya's brother) Bush back to Texas where the rest of the Bushes call home. Being of Latin background, don't believe that Latinos in Florida support Jed Bush, and hate Janet Reno. Majority of Latinos, support Janet Reno's decision on Elian Gonzalez, because Latinos believe in the bond of a Father and Mother figure. So, you go Janet Reno! I'm waiting to celebrate your victory!

Anti-religion, baby-killing, consitutional rights violator. I just can't say enough bad things about her. (okay, the baby killing is by proxy...but she is ultimately responsible for the actions of her subordinates) ADDENDUM: Having read a few "vast right wing conspiracy" comments, I have to add something that is about as left wing as you can get. Why didn't Janet Reno pursue any of the THOUSANDS of criminals denied the purchase of a firearm by the NICS system? It is a FEDERAL CRIME to attempt to buy a firearm if you have a felony record. They are proud to show the stats of how many people were turned away, but WHY DIDN'T SHE PROSECUTE THEM? Once again, laws are enacted and not enforced. AND IT WAS HER JOB TO ENFORCE THEM.

Bill Clinton took this native Floridian from out of obscurity and gave her the freedom to do what she believed to be in the best interests of our society. Perhaps the reason so many people detest her is that she took principled stands for what she believed in, and even though she may have had poor judgement in a few cases, she did not pass the blame or cast the accusing finger, as so many other people in positions of power would do. I really respect and admire her cool, calm demeanor and poise in the face of adversity, from right-wing wackos and Re-smug-licans who could not look past her political appointment by Clinton, to militias and other sundry paranoiacs who vilified her as the Devil incarnate. As an Attorney General, there is no way on God's green earth you are going to be able to escape the scrutiny the public heaps on you, and in light of some poor judgement (Waco) and some tough, but ultimately correct decisions (returning Elian Gonzalez to his father despite pressure from an... I can only hope for Florida's sake that Janet thinks before she leaps with all her future missions. She also needs to clean her 'back yard' before she runs on a 'for the family platform'. I know for a fact that one of her top associates has used their knowledge to guide someone on how to get out of paying child support. With top personnel like this backing Janet, how can she honestly run on a 'back to the family platform' while taking a strong stance against dead beat dads? After all, her own top employees use their knowledge to avoid the things she believes in. If she cleans up her own backyard I would have a lot more respect and confidence in her.
