He makes some good points in his bits. His voice gets really annoying after awhile.

I am a black married woman with kids living in America. I just watched the HBO Special with Chris rock and was insulted and was humiliated for both white people and black people.  He is very very racist. He acts like people are not responsible for their own destinies. He is going on and on about Obama being the first black president and never ONCE does he mention that Obama's mother is white.  That he was raised by a white woman who helped him become the man he is and encouraged him to live his life to the fullest. If he does become the president and I hope he does, it will mean that we have a president that is coming to the table mixed with the best of both worlds.  There are so many people in interracial relationship's these days that he should recognize that and see how far the world has come and stop living back 200 years ago.   We are all going to end up in the same place in the end anyway. Chris Rock's 'Bigger and Blacker' is probably one of the funniest stand-up releases ever.  I seriously would check it out.  It's reallly wrong all over the place but it's funny as can be.  "l've been watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon...Where the f$%k is the money going? What, to keep Jerry's hair black?"

he went from saying black people are the most racist people in the world to saying white people have taken the title. He says black people are thought to be Obama supporters because he's black NOT because they get the issues, meanwhile he says white people just "walk into money and success" what a load of crap. Who are these white people? Chris, didn't they go to school and study and sacrafice? You can't overcome racism by shifting from white on black racism to black on white racism. But I guess he isn't trying to accomplish such a thing is he? He's just looking to grab some cash. Black people should be clamoring for some Bill Cosby. He is the only comedian figure who seems to get that personal responsibility is key to success, NOT the color of one's skin. Grow up Chris.

I agree with LadieBee 100%. I just saw Chris Rock in Las Vegas...people were leaving VERY early (within the first 30 minutes)...something is definitely going on between he and his wife...the way he carried on about black women was shocking...not too many black women are going to support him after hearing about this....I have a great sense of humor, but bitter attacks just aren't funny.

I think Chris Rock is brilliant and funny. However, his strident voice and the foul language keep me from buying his DVDs. His observations of life are spot-on though.

Talented, and occasionally he makes me laugh, but he's no Richard Pryor. There are too many white bigots who love him because of his "honesty" (in other words, he talks about blacks and minorities in the same way they do, or at least he used to) for me to wax rhapsodic over his act. And, while I'll concede that he has made me laugh, he hasn't made me laugh all that often. And his manic persona, striding about the stage and shrieking as if he's wired on speed, gets on the nerves after awhile. I've read that he's become sensitive about the fact that white bigots seem to love him, and has altered his act significantly. Maybe in time he'll become a comic I can become enthusiastic about (as I am when it comes to comics of true genius such as Pryor, Bill Hicks, Greg Giraldo, and a few others), as I do think he has innate talent and may eventually develop it to such an extent that he will become truly great (I'm sure he won't lose any sleep over my lukewarm endorsement). I just attended chris's No apologies performance and was extremely disheartened. As a historically huge fan of chris I have never been more insulted and disappointed. His rampage on destroying the African American woman was shocking, hurtful and definitely not funny. His constant repeating of himself made the 45 min show an 1.5 hr long. mediocre. People were leaving within the 1st 15 min. (they were smart)!! I don't know what chris is going through personally but his career is definitely coming to an abrupt end. His old material is still hilarious but currently he's simply profiting off of his old reputation. If I could get my money back I would!! I highly discourage anyone with a healthy since of humor from going to see chris!!

Even giving him that black comedians can get away with a lot more than white comedians, one day Chris Rock will go too far for 2 simple reasons: one- he has no judgment - he really means some of the crap he spouts. If you can't see that, you're blind; and two - he's low on material. Aside from his obnoxious voice, I can't stand watching him because he repeats everything three or four times. If he oly said each thing once, how long of a show could he give?

People like him are the ones keeping racism alive in this country. He is not funny. And I am black and got everything I ever worked hard for.

Definitely the funniest comedian I have ever seen- and I have seen them all. Chris pokes fun at all aspects of life in a way that one would never think of. He has the guts to rip through undertones and covert behaviours in a way that no one else can. That in itself is funny, but he goes beyond that and gets analytical. His analyses of different situations are always on the money and a more importantly -hilarious. All those who cannot tolerate his racial humour are very uptight and are probably closet racists. There is nothing racist about Chris's humour. He is for me the greatest comic ever. his 4 HBO specials all in top 10 comedy concerts

Funny and honest, one of my fav comedians. He's not afraid to talk about issues between m/f and race. He is great.

Some of his jokes fell really flat. Didn't make the Oscars interesting enough.

It was good for the Academy to take a chance and mix things up, but I don't think he pulled off what they wanted, to make the Awards presentation hip. It's just too bad that the Academy Awards think that they have to be the biggest, hippest event on the planet. Does everything have to be about more - more award categories, more viewers, more ad revenue? Is there no place left in the world for a tasteful recognition of excellence?

Chris Rock , in my book, is great because not only is he funny but he takes the time to cover a range of topics. And in his case, he doesn't solely rely on a boatload of profanity and basic jokes that have no thought behind them. He seems to say what most people are thinking yet doesn't base his opinion on popular beliefs. I like that he makes comments that aren't for the sole purpose or getting a rise out of people....they truly make sense. He lacks cheap tricks and that makes him awesome.

I just sat through Chris Rock: Never Scared. I am a white male who always loved his show and feel that this is a good example of how writers make or break a comedian, as this was a real let down. I know many have tagged him a racist after this performance. I don't use the racist tag as it is too subjective and high horse as we all have our prejudices and should be careful about how much we judge. I will say that Chris is a man who clearly has contempt for white people and blames whites for all of the black problems. Eg. getting arrested for dealing and using drugs, not doing well in school, etc. in his segment on affirmative action. Surprisingly, he makes more of a case against affirmative action and I felt myself getting pushed to the right on this issue with his points. I loved Rock! His humor was not so lopsided as some have stated, and if they ever expanded their narrow perspective on race, would realize Rock is one of the most even handed comedians when it comes to race. Get out of the white mentality and into the raced world of the U.S. today.

He really shouldn't be doing the racial jokes all the time, It tends to get a little predictable. although, the demeaning and mean jokes he makes about other actors were funny and I had a good laugh. Alot of actors take themselves to seriously. Sean Penn is a goof, he took it seriously and had a fit when he got on stage, he needs to chill out, I think everyone else got the joke and knew chris rock was only kidding around.

Who could have guessed that the usually funny Chris Rock could be so boring, so lame, and so mean spirited. A real letdown. Hope they don't ask him back.

I thought he was hysterical, I never laughed so much before while watching the Oscars. It was a nice change, since these award shows can get so boring after a while...

It did not regress into the MTV Movie Awards as some feared. I thought he did Okay. He had some funny stuff. But probably not much edgier than Bob Hope in the midst of his hey-day. I got a kick out of the feature where they went to the urban movie theater to get the pulse of the nation. It is obvious that the real America prefers movies like AVP (one of my Top-10s) and White Chicks, over pseudo-intellectual crapola like Sideways and Vera Drake. I was boasting that I did not see a single picture up for an award until I was dragged to Finding Neverland.

Where were the jokes? I love Chris Rock, but I don't think this was the best venue for his talents. I loved the Oprah Winfrey/John Kerry proposal joke, but can't remember much else from him. I'd rather see him in one of his hourlong specials, then him throwing out one liners after awards are presented.

His standup is truly genius, you either have to be dumb, uninformed or too PC not to see that. But his voice is obnoxious as hell!
