Admittedly, my contact with him has been limited, which is why my rating is as high as it is. In the interests of fairness. I know people...and I generally respect their opinion...who think he's great. One late friend of mine loved his TV show, which I've never watched, and she used to urge me...before she prematurely left this vail of tears...to watch it (one of these days, Carol, one of these day...). But if it were up to me exclusively, based on my minimal exposure to him so far, the rating would be lower. Not "terrible"...necessarily...but less than "OK." A friend of mine, who loved the guy, enthusiastically played me his CD once, and I don't remember laughing much. Or at all, quite frankly. If you're a stand-up comic, either make me laugh, or say something insightful and witty. Leary has done neither, in my opinion. And then I later read that he's been accused of "borrowing" a lot of his better material from the late Bill Hicks who was, to my mind, one of the greatest stand-up com... Read more

I first knew of him as the voice of Francis in Pixar's A Bugs Life, and while his material is a bit raunchy for the most part it's actually pretty funny.

Probably my favourite. Quick, nasty, vicious and to the point. I've seen him live a couple of times and he's superb.

A very funny standup comedian. His success in other venues has derailed his development in live comedy. Guess which pays better?

Funny, fearless, and a little too un-PC for a warm acceptance from America as a whole- I think Leary is underrated.

Crude and not funny at all. Tries to come off as a "tuff guy"! C,mon, this clown should have played Barney Fife in Mayberry!

Not very funny. Seems to be angry at every little thing.

one of my favorites. acerbic and mean but not w/o having a worthy target to back up his venom. attacks everything from non-smokers to flavored coffee and micro brew. seems almost obsessed w/niche market variety. makes good comedic argument against product advancement. if only we could keep this guy off the screen and out on the circuit.

Unoriginal hack. He started out well enough - acerbic, vitriolic rants and good delivery. Then his material suddenly dried up - by an astonishing coincidence, it did so at about the same time that Bill Hicks died.

When I first heard him I thought he was funny. Then it was if he was just doing a Dennis Leary impression after that. Now I can't wait for the cigarettes to do their work.

Reminds me a lot of George Carlin, but I honestly like Leary better than Carlin for some reason. I just watched "No Cure for Cancer". His analysis on health, the Kennedys, television, guns, and New York was hilarious. Not to mention his hilarious rant on the stairmaster... what's next the Doormaster, the Chairmaster? A funny guy.

The first time I watched No Cure For Cancer, I'd never laughed so hard at anything else in my life. The bits about drugs in the '70s and the voice boxes are classic. And after watching No Cure, just try not to laugh the next time you see a NyQuil box. Just try. The man's an absolute nutcase, sure, but he's also a brilliant, hilarious comedian.

Very pent up and very funny! His songs really make me wet my pants though. I haven't seen anything he did for years now, but if any of his gigs got released on DVD I'd buy iy without thinking!

this guy's irish toughness seems to kinda wedge him right into society's definition of a man. at least, according to his monologue. i saw him on a talk show and he was all normal. but i caught him on CC a while ago and was laughing my butt off.

Very angry man. Rants about whatever pisses him off, and gets all on other angry people. Still pretty funny though.

Denis (yes there is only 1 "N" in his name)is by far one of the most brilliant minded comics ever to step foot on stage. I've always liked his material, because almost everything he's ever said always seems to hit home. Love it.
