Lenny Kravitz

Because he does so many differant styles of music, I'm not into every song or album he's done. But he's incredibly talented and passionate. He made the right choice by not changing his music for the radio. He is who he is and makes music from the heart and soul. It's always refreshing and inspiring to see that. He have many rockin' songs that I will always love and am glad I have the privelage to hear.

It isn't Talent he lacks- it's Originality.

Competent musician. But there's not much heart in his stuff.

I wouldn't know what to call him, but he's definitely not alternative or indie rock. Lenny is always capable of unleashing a huge hit, but his career has been mostly disappointing in strictly musical terms. He is indeed a 'retro' artist, but he often fails to make the jump from being inspired by the likes of Hendrix, the Beatles, or Curtis Mayfield, among others to finding his own path. He winds up being just a pastiche or rather imitative of these greats. Therefore we wind up with Lenny's Beatles tune ("Let Love Rule"), his Curtis Mayfield tribute ("It Ain't Over Till It's Over,") Lenny's Hendrix song ( "Are You Gonna Go My Way,")his Led Zeppelin number ("Rock& Roll Is Dead") and so forth. He does indulge in a lot of genres- everything from soul to funk to hard rock to neo-psychedelia, he's a very good guitarist, and he possesses a decent voice. When you look this good who cares what the music sounds like. But of course his music is great too.

He's a pretty good guitarist but he has very limited songwriting ability and is very unoriginal.

"Are You Gonna Go My Way" is his absolute best. It rocks! His newer stuff is good, too. A very talented musician.

Lenny Kravitz is a very talented musician! It is nice that someone can be sexy and talented. He is not just another handsome face, he has the talent to back it up! He is OK. I wouldn't listen to him constantly though. He repeats too many songs by better bands.

Lenny is one of today's very few true artists. He doesn't just throw some garbage licks down on a beat machine and call it a song. He actually knows what he is doing and never sounds like an imitation of anyone. Nobody but Jimi Hendrix can play anywhere near to how Lenny plays. His music tends to entrance you and force you to get down with the groove. HE HAS SKILLZ!

Lenny Kravitz works magic with the guitar. There is lots of energy given off from his music. His music won't allow to stay in your seats when you ear it. Like "American Woman", that song really pumps me up.

Lenny Kravitz not only combines rock, R&B, funk, and a touch of heavy metal which results in something for everyone, but he also has a unique style. I have followed him since his second album and can honestly say I like every song he ever made.

His new stuff isn't nearly as good as Let Love Rule and Mama Said.
