Dispite it's appearance, the Bull Dog makes a fine family pet. They are loveable, loyal to a fault, friendly, and lack an aggressive nature. They will adapt to strangers as well as other pets and children immediately. These dogs require little grooming maintenance and some exercise to keep them from becoming obese. Unfortunately, this breed is extremely prone to hip dysplasia, the highest rate of any of the other breeds in existence.

I totally agree with you.  Bulldogs aren't ugly.  They may look ugly to some people but for me they're very cute especially when their tail wiggle.  I also read blogs on how to take care of English bulldog puppy on www.englishbulldogpuppyblog.com.  Check it out!

The ugly yet cute face only a mother could love. I have noticed that they tend to drool a lot, but it's cute. I love how they are short and and bulky.

I own a 6 year old "English" Bulldog (acually they're name is jsut "Bulldog", no "English"), and I absolutely love this breed! They are comical, fun loving dogs that are actually very smart. But they are definately NOT for everyone. Many do have significant health problems (alhough mine is very healthy), and they tend to be dominant, so training takes some convinving, they have to see that something is in it for them.

I love Bulldogs! They are a great dog to get as a family pet! They aren't aggressive like most would think they are.

THEY ARE INTELLIGENT AS SOON AS THEY KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, THEY HAVE TO BE TAUGHT, THEY CAN'T READ YOUR MIND JUST AS ANY OTHER BREED. THEY DO HAVE MANY HEALTH PROBLEMS, IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A PUPPY TRY RESCUE, THERE AREN'T MANY IN RESCUES AS ENGLISH BULLIES ARE EXPENSIVE AND OWNERS TEND TO WORK THROUGH ANY ISSUES THAT MAY ARISE, PLUS THEY ARE JUST ADORABLE. THEY LOVE EVERYTHING. ORRIGINALLY USED FOR BAITING BULLS (NOT A MAN MADE BREED THANKS), THEY AGGRESSIVNESS WAS BREED OUT OF THEM TO MAKE GOOD FAMILY PETS, THOUGH I WOULD NOT SUGGEST CHALLENGING ANY ANIMAL THAT WAS USED TO BAIT BULLS, THEY ARE 60LBS OF MUSCLE AND WILL PROBABLY BREAK A BONE IF THEY CHARGED A HUMAN, AT LEAST PLOW YOU OVER TO SLOBBER ALL OVER YOUR FACE. THE SNORING, THE SLOBBERS, THE SOMETIMES NOT SO GRACEFUL NESS, ALL MAKES THEM GREAT DOGS!!!! I HAVE ONE, SOON TO BE TWO, I SHOW THEM BOTH, I HAVE YET TO RUN INTO ANY THAT ARE NOT AT ALL SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS. THEY LOVE KIDS (ONE OF THE TOP BREEDS FOR KIDS), PEOPLE, AND... Read more

Our Mandy was one of the Best Dogs we have ever had in our Family. Unfortunately she passed away from cancer. We would open our doors to any snoring, slobering, asthmatic American Bulldog that walked through our doors. She was the greatest with kids and other pets also. There was never a boring Day around here. For the wonderful years we had her we are thankfull.

Bulldogs are amazing dogs. Of course they pant, snore, are stubby and have health problems, thats what you get with a man-made dog. The previous post saying that they are dim-witted only says what the owner must be like. My bulldog was house trained at 10 weeks old, moonwalks, speaks, dances (quite amusing), fetches..you name it. She is just the most loyal dog I've ever had, and through good and bad vet bills, no price could ever be placed on my Mabelle. She's just a big "beautifully challenged" baby. I'd recommend this breed only to people with a sincere love of dogs and nice savings account :)

I own an all white rescue Bulldog. He's the greatest dog that I think I've owned. He's 5 years old and we've had him for over 1 year and haven't had ANY problems with him. He's AWESOME with my 2 kids (a4 year old and 1 year old). He lets them crawl on him fall on him, anything. I love him to pieces!!! He IS alot of maintenance, but isn't every kid? He's a part of the family and always will be.

A good friend of mine has a white English Bulldog. I have never seen a more irritating dog in my life!!! And I love all dogs. That dog is lifeless, slobbers, snores, pants, etc. Talk about high maintenance. The dog has always got something wrong. She is always trying to give it to me because I have a really great mixed breed dog that her dog loves. Not a chance:)

I would not describe them as ugly because their not, they are just these tough looking sweethearts. I've always wanted an English Bulldog but they are so expensive, because they have trouble giving birth because of the puppies big heads, and the dam's narrow openingso they need to have their bellies opened to get the puppy out, I also heard they suffer from quite alot of problems, like overheating, thats to bad. But I think that pushed in look is sooo cute.

Totally out of shape dogs. It's as if they are genetically asthmatic or something. They wheeze at the slightest physical activity. They're also extremely dimwitted, so training them is sort of frustrating. But they're incredibly cute and lovable. They're also pretty okay with anything that's going on around them, they just don't seem to care what happens, they just accept what's happening and are cool with it. Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Maybe it's that they just don't comprehend anything so have learned to stop trying to. In any case, they are fun to have around, as is every other dog on earth.

The absolute BEST breed ofdog there is. Have had 3 of them and could not imagine ever having any other type. They're totally loyal, laid back, slow moving, very smart, lovable dogs.

Such great dogs. We had an English Bulldog..she was so great..She thought she was a lap dog though! Pretty funny to listen to them sleep! We could hear her snorting ans snoring and grunting all the way upstairs.
