"Judging Amy" is the TV show I most looked forward to watching. It had everything: drama, of course, but also humor, societal as well as family values. Its lead actors--Amy Brenneman, Tyne Daly, Richard T. Jones--were outstanding, as were the supporting players and so many of the guest performers. Writing was consistently strong with a mix of courtroom drama, family conflict/connection, human relationships. I suspect it's proving its worth on TNT reruns.

Please, please, please get "Amy" back on the air!!!! I could live with it the way it is because of the last 2 sentences of last year"s season, but I want MORE. This show has great family background and still it has great interest in the work of each famiy member. It's a class act show and we need it on the air.

I like this show, and unlike some reviewers, I get the premise, because I'm not brain-dead and it's not really complicated...at all. It's little more than a soap opera, but then, what isn't these days? It's a crazy little show, and I like it. I don't love it, but I like it.

My mother likes this show, but I don't. I for the life of me can't figure out the show's premise. Plus I'm originally from CT, and it's not as nice as it's portrayed on this show.

Judging Amy is one of my favorite shows to watch every week. It is a well written show. About a woman in her thirties who has come back to her hometown with her young daughter. She moves in with her mother. She becomes a judge, usually taking on family and children issues. I like this show because there are a lot of great actors. Tyne Daly is good as Maxine a social worker and Amy's mother. Maxine is an outspoken in your face kind of person. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and sometimes that gets her in trouble. I was sorry to see Vincent leave the show. and hope he comes back soon. I like the character Donna too. She is a bit on the quirky side. but a devoted friend and has so much compassion. I was glad that baby Ned came back too Amys brother and sister in law.htis is a very well done show.UPDATE:I wrote the upper part a few years ago.I would give it a five then. this season I have begun to grow tired of the show. So much has changed. ONe of my favorite characters Vincent lef... Read more

I have watched JA from the beginning, it WAS one of the few shows I looked forward to watching. But last week they finally blew me out forever with their blatant political cuts to Republicans. I tried to overlook the public display against the President a few months back by Daly and Brenneman, but when they make untrue negative references about nearly half their viewing audience then they've made a very unwise choice. I am one Republican of many that would have loved to send my children to private schools but, like most Republicans I know, could not afford it. Unlike the Hollywood left, the Kennedy's, Chelsea Clinton, etc. It has been the Liberals like Daly and Brenneman that keep poor children from going to the school of their choice. I won't be watching this show again.

Pretty decent show. For those of you here prattling on about the "message" the show sends...either accept the fact that not everyone thinks the way you do, or put down the Pabst Blue Ribbon and pork rinds, get your fat ass off of the couch, and write a better show for the CBS brass to air.

Regarding the most recent episode of "Judging Amy"...from Chugiak, Ak. Topic:Amy's sex life. Amy has worked to break this glass ceiling that all women face. Despite her divorce she has maintained multiple partners discretely over a period of time. If she'd just had one....I would be more forgiving. Because of the writers building up her immorality Amy stands to lose her stature and her child. More disturbing though is the judgement (she's not Mary Magdalen)or is she? Amy is a vibrant women with emotional and physical needs. Regardless if she has proven herself professionall....this consequences of this episode are a warning to other women. Writers peck away at womens vunerabilty. Are women supposed to wait until men deem them socially acceptable? The male judges wouldn't go through the same condemnation. Is this "stalker" the underhanded photographer who is trespassing against Amy's civil rights of privacy and trying to bring her down to illustrate there are sexual standards from men ... Read more

Some of the cases on this show are good and emotional, but, unfortunately, the show probes too deep into the lives of the main character and her family and friends, not the cases.

I almost always enjoy this show. Tynne Dayley;s character is wonderful. She should be the star. I do get a little tired of the lack of morals of Amy hopping into the sack with every Tom, Dick or Harry.

I have not seen a single episode, but I just have to comment on this stalking storyline that I keep seeing in the previews. What is the deal with this? Why is this man following her? They should start calling the show "STALKING Amy", since that's all that it is about this season.

Last season I was crazy about this series. I wouldn't miss an episode for anything, then this seasn started and something happened. The fine character and excellent actor was banished to San Francisco (that's real punishment!) and suddenly Amy's judgments have gone haywire. One hearing a small boy of 9 begs to stay with his adoptive parents ("I just want to go home!" Amy orders him to live with his birthmother whom he has never before seen! This week she puts a 12 year old boy through hell on the witness stand, to get the name of a child molester--something that probably comes under the jurisdiction of the investigators, not the kindly, wise judge...The pregnant daugher in law is acting like a lunatic, the doctor nephew sleeps through his opportunity to advance and the mother is acting like a highschool freshman with her aged boyfriend and Amy is off her rocker with fear and runs into the street in the middle of the night in her underwear... What happened? Did you get rid of t... Read more

cheesy and completely unbeleivable story lines where everything always seems to work out neatly for our girl. and i will never fogive them for gratuitously killing off the dog, who was the only incentive to watch this charmless drivel in the first place.

I enjoy the interaction of the characters on this show tremendously! I especially like the way that Judge Gray is gradually developing a working relationship with Bruce and Donna. I like the fact that she is relying on Bruce's judgement and view of things and that she highly respects his opinions while maintaining her own. I'm glad that they have decided to emphasize the working relationship instead of falling back on the old office romance cliche. These are both wonderfully stong characters in their own right, and it's great to see a show where a very attractive man and woman can develope a working bond without falling into an office romance. In the real world men and women work together all over the country and manage a respectful and friendly working relationship. Keep it up! BTW, one of my favorite episodes was the one where Maxine was forced to go into anger management therapy. When asked what made her angry (after listening to all of the "fluff anger") she unloaded everything tha... Read more

I was fascinated with the May 15 episode with the story of the family and the incest trauma. There was nothing to prepare me, but the only person that I could imagine helping that family was Maxine Gray! Bruce really offered her a bit of flattery by trying to come to her for advice, when he was in a situation where he would have been able to give good advice - he is a very level headed man. I love this show!

I have been entertained by the diversity on this show, however, "Bruce" has become unbearable. His "better than thou", the "white world is out to get me" attitude is definite racial prejudice on HIS part. Blacks in America have never had such opportunity. I would understand if he were offended by the slavery STILL GOING ON in Africa. American Blacks should do something about that!

Hi, I just want to say that I love this program, and it makes me fell extremely good. I watched it last night (May 9) and I cried and cried and I felt so good, for once, good thing seems to happen to a lot of people last night and I was happy I would like to say to Tyne I much I love her and I would like to be like the mother she portraited. I do love Amy too, and I think the little girl is a very good actress. (Yes sometime I think she should go in her room) It is great and I hope it stays for many years. Usually when I like something it doesn't last...I hope I am wrong this time. Congradulations to all the comediens. Keep the good work. I don't think that it is necessary that we see amy in the tub with a young guy, it takes away the family atmosphere of the show . You have the greatest show on television, please keep it clean, no pun intended, she was in the tub. She is intitled to a romance but, we don't want to see this undermine your show. hope you have many more seasons to come.

A good show all over, but: The kid is a brat with a smart mouth that needs closing. Amy is a slut, and the actor who plays her should be replaced with someone who can act. Tyne is the reason I watch the show--she is the one acting. Change the show to "Judging Momma", and give her a daughter that is not always trying to hit the audience over the head with her pro-abortion feminazi issues. [email protected]

Judging Amy was my favorite TV show until last night when she was sharing a bath with her daughter's karate instructor. The example that she had always maintained was one that I could watch and allow my grandchildren to watch, but this was too much. If this type of relationship continues, I will not watch the show even though Tyne Daly, Amy Brenneman, and Don Futterman are are wonderful in this series. Find her a boyfriend her own age.

Juding Amy has been one of my favorite shows. In fact, one of the very few I try not to miss. I have liked the wisdom shown in her judgements and opinions in court. I enjoy having Tyne Daly as her mom and her role in show. However, I have been rather disappointed a few of the shows this season. I was watching the show last night with my son and turned the tv when it showed her in the bathtub with a guy she evidently not very well. My son's comment was "I thought this was a good show--why do they have to have that kind of stuff on". I completely agree. If the show continues with that kind of story subject, I will discontinue watching. Can't we ever have a good show without needing to put "sex" in it?
