We don't have the network up here, but we do get Penn and Tell's Bullshit and United States of Tara, two of my favorite shows, at the moment.

It was OK for awhile but I cancelled after 6 or 8 months because they seem to rotate through the same movies over & over & crimson & clover & over. Then again I have same opinion of all the premium movie channels that DirecTV offers. They should gradually decrease the rates we pay the longer we keep the subscription, then we would get the same value when we see 1 movie a month that we havn't already watched vs. the dozen new ones the first month...... I eventually cancelled all the premiums and now just use Netflix. Maybe I'll subscribe to showtime again in a year or so after they've had time to acquire some new movies.

If I want to see boxing, I'd watch ESPN, also the original TV shows are OK...the ones they do not cancel, the boring ones like Sex in the City , they kept longer.

I give Showtime a Good rating because of ShowtimeToo, ShowCase, TMC, and Flix, which are all included in Showtime Unlimited from DirecTV. I enjoy the Sci-Fi movies that they play from the 50's and 60's and 70's. They also play classic movies that don't show up on TCM.

No limits indeed ... I find Sbowtime to be an excellent network. Queer as Folk is spellbinding and I am a straight married female old enough to be Britney Spears' mom (not that I would want to be); Family Business is no-holds-barred and enjoyable but Dead Like Me is exceptional. As another poster said HBO with an edge.

As their frighteneing motto, No limits. suggests, this station has no qualms about being offensive. At least they don't show softcore pornographic programs ala Cinemax, but this station does have a bunch of boring, R-rated shows such as the dark Jeremiah and the stupidious Dead Like Me. Then, there's Queer as Folk, which overflows with graphic sexual content and profanity. This station will never have any show time on my television, that's for sure! I bet Showtime is jealous that they didn't get to air the brilliant third season of Star Trek Enterprise...which was much better than anything on their insipid network!

Out of the main premium channels, Showtime does have the greatest movie catalogue out there. Some of the good ones that they have listed, they hardly ever show. Most of the movies they show are barely known to the public. Also, Showtime is also pushing their own tv shows extensively in order to combat with HBO. Maybe they should put a little less focus on shows, and put a little more oomph into making better deals with the film distribution companies and showing quality movies.

Showtime is great. It always takes a chance on innovative programming. It is like HBO with an edge!

On February 2003 I had to say good by to Showtime and say "hello' to HBO because of the rising cost of digital cable. In South Florida I have Comcast. In the part of Dade county I live in, I only had Showtime East, Showtime 2, Showcase, and [b]Showtime Extreme. My best of the four channels was Showcase because they showed all or some of their original programming. I barely or at all watched Showtime Extreme which was mostly cheesy action movies that went straight to video. I'm going to miss some of the original programming and original movies the cable channel offered: Soul Food, Queer as Folk; the movies included "Wild Iris", "10000 Black Men Named George' and others. Since having SHOWTIME for almost 2-years now, I have noticed a mix of good and dull original programming. Overall the cable network has some decent movies. Problem is the good movies were Showtime's. The theatrical movies the cable channel were either cheesy or so-so in viewing. I barely watched anything on the channe... Read more

Showtime is not really what I would call my #1 movie network. Rarely do they have anything but second-rate movies on this network. However, they are the king of origional programming with "Soul Food" and "Queer As Folk".

I am thinking of canceling all the movie channels but this group. hbo is getting old,tmc is old, cinemax stinks, and the rest just dump. I pay so much for so little. I think showtime could really do better with newer movies but hey they only want to pay so much, so they get them when they do. Hbo used to be the first run station, not anymore.
