Samantha (Molly Ringwald) wakes up on the morning of her 16th birthday. This is a milestone most of us remember in one way, shape or form. After all, at 16 we're about 1/2 way through high school and just 2 years(!) away from having to be considered as adults. Just one problem: everyone has forgotten about Samantha's birthday. Oh no! With her older sister getting married, Samantha's family has had too many distractions to keep up with anything involving normalcy. Poor Samantha is also suffering the heartache of suffering a crush on a senior who could never return her love. Or could he? As Hamlet would say, THAT is the question! {Ah, nothing like teenage puppy love; my oh my how I remember it well} If you're into 80s nostalgia (like me!) then this DVD is a must-have. It stars Anthony Michael Hall as a mega-geek; just before his career flamed out. It also stars a young John Cusack in a bit part. Even though Cusack has maybe a dozen lines, one can still see the g... Read more

There is a reason that Anthony Michael Hall dropped off the face of the Earth for a generation. This movie is probably it.

This movie is still as good if not better when it first premiered. It brings back fun memories of being 16 all over again. John Hughes has a knack for capturing the angst of young people. I will always be a big fan of his movies. Molly Ringwald is perfect in the role of Sam and Anthony Michael Hall as the geek. Great movie!! Two Thumbs Up!!

This is my 2nd favorite movie of all time. If you were born in the late 60s or the 70s, there's no way you wouldn't enjoy this movie. I've seen it at least 15 times and continue to watch it every chance that I get. I mean really, come on ladies; JAKE RYAN...is there anything better.

I met Haviland Morris (Carolyn) last year and she was such an sweetheart. Twenty seven years after Sixteen Candles she's an attractive real estate broker who when I told still had the great legs necessary to play Carolyn she laughed hysterically, blushed and thanked me. A funny, intelligent and classy lady who helped me find a studio!
