Goldfinger could best be described as the quintessential, definitive Bond film, the first of the series to set the necessities of the entire saga in motion. It is also the best of the Bond movies, arguably the most suave and sophisticated, far superior to the Roger Moore era and those who followed in Connery's footsteps. It is the Bond ultimatum, so to speak

Goldfinger really was one of the best Bond movies.  The enemy character was great.  The title track song was pretty annoying though.

One of the best of the Sean Connery era Bond films. Of course the series had caught on by now and had a bigger budget by this time. From Russia with Love was a bit more intense than Goldfinger though.

Incredibly dynamic, especially for the 60s. The plot is simple, but involving, which proves that a bank heist can be more entertaining than the idea of world domination. It also has a realistic feel because Bond-Connery is still a spy, not Superman, and the villain is not a member of made-up SPECTRE. Goldfinger-Oddjob could be the best villain-henchman combo in a series. If only locations such as Kentucky and Texas were not so boring!

The third best of them all. Tied for first place are From Russia With Love and the new Daniel Craig film Casino Royale

Love love love this movie!! This movie is when everything finally came together-pre-titles teaser, opening song with a soloist, the character of Q, etc. Awesome title song sung by Shirley Bassey, awesome Bond girl (Miss Galore). Great movie all around!

Bond is tough and quick witted, flawed but admirable and heroic. The action is at least somewhat plausible compared to the over the top cgi stunts of the modern day films. Great villians, girls, and even a bit of a story.

Can't be lower than third on anyone's Bond film list. . .Great villians, decent chase scenes (for the day), cool laser-that-almost-turned-James-into Jayne Bond, and points for unintentional laughter when Connery (with a straight face) says "Pussy GALore"

The definitive Bond movie. In truth, as much as I liked this move - I disliked others just as much. Lets see - oh I don't know - how about Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Never Say Never Again, The Living Daylights etc. The franchise really suffered in the '70's, '80's and '90's - only Brosnan and GoldenEye turned it around.

I don't know if it was the best, but it was up there. Actually, I haven't really enjoyed the Bond films of the last couple of decades - where explosions and constant fight scenes have replaced the unique psychological intrigue of the old films. You have to admire the courage of the producers pushing a villainess name like Pussy Galore onto the desks of the censors of 1964.

Do remember that when the film was originally made, most people would have missed the innuendo, unlike todays generation. Still took some guts to get that past the MPAA censors. A wonderful film for the Bond fanatic to enjoy. Probably Connery's finest film as 007.

Definitely one of the 3 best Bond movies and probably the most iconic viz the golden girl and Bond on the laser table. Goldfinger himself is also probably the best of the super villains

Excellent entertainment value. Still enjoy watching it, though I have seen it many times. Very stylish with a good cast. Gert Forbes isn't one of the better Bond villians, but he is still good. Odd-Job is still scary. Pussy Galore makes most A list actresses today look like cardboard cut-outs in comparism.

Quintissential Bond. Has it all. Connery, John Barry Theme song, great villains, great gadgets, and beautiful Bond girls. Most essential was the excellent adaptation of Sir Ian Fleming's great novel.

Goldfinger (the third film in the franchise released in 1964) marks the point where the Bond series reaches cruising altitude and speed. All of the now expected elements are here: suave, lady-killer Bond (Sean Connery); Q's gadgets; Batmobilish automobile; tongue-in-cheek puns; and a killer theme song. One also gets the feeling that Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) is every bit the equal of 007, though on the dark side. Goldfinger is the first in the series in which Bond has any real and extended interaction with his chief nemesis resulting in a richer film and better character development. The movie also introduces the exotic sidekick in the part of Oddjob (which was revisited in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)) and returns to using intriguing names for the primary Bond Girl in the form of Honor Blackman as Pussy Galore. The only real complaint with this film is the real time editing problem near the end of the film when Bond is blindly trying to defuse a bomb as a nuclear scientist ru... Read more

The most critically-acclaimed of all Bond films, and I agree. This is the beginning of what was to follow for the recipe of Bond films. Flashy gadgets, chase scenes, many beautiful women, and multiple international venues. This is a great script, excellent production, and fine acting by the supporting cast (Goldfinger & Oddjob were excellent). In addition, the theme song is certainly one of the most memorable.

The best and most critically-acclaimed of all Bond movies. A great script, excellent directing, and fine production. The supporting cast of characters blended well with the original and best Bond, Sean Connery.

I think this is the best James Bond film made yet. For one, the best actor is in it. Connery was just getting used to this role to, so it makes him good and casual. Second, it has the best storyline of all the films. Kind of....
